lock 31 — Attraction in Trent Lakes

If you find yourself cruising through the Kawarthas, either by boat or car, definitely stop at Buckhorn, AKA Lock 31. It's run by some of the friendliest, most helpful people you could ever encounter. They were an absolute joy to chat with as me and a group of friends passed through in a houseboat. Gave some great recommendations for where we could boat on to, and helped us with docking when we spent the night at Lock 31. Came through Buckhorn on a houseboat over Canada Day weekend. The staff at the lock were very helpful. It was very windy and maneuvering was a bit challenging. The Lock Master guided us into the lock and helped us moor on the lower side. It was a very tight fit and more difficult to steer due to the wind. We were at Lock 31 this past weekend. I am certainly not an expert at being behind the wheel of a boat and frankly I get nervous each time i go through a lock. We got excellent help from the staff at lock 31. We were pulling in and I told Erin I needed a bit of extra help and he gave me great suggestions and made it a lot easier. Many Thanks Erin!
