Valemount & Area Museum — Attraction in Valemount

This place is so great!! It was open ! I pretty sure you can male a donation or purchase a booklet to support the museum. There is a real train to go into and explore. There's a out building with old forestry tools and stories. There is the museum it self that actually has local art hung up around the museum incase you want to take a price of valemount home with you,there's sets of paintings by different artist,there's quilt work and mis media art, it was epic I really enjoyed the mix of old and new . There is a huge train set super cool goes everywhere around the room even threw the wall. There's 3 floors in the museum the basement is full of history and trappers hides and even a upstairs where there is a bedroom set up like stepping back into history There is a big parking lot, there is stairs and steps so be aware for accessibility ♿ maybe call ahead to see if and what's ♿ assessable. We took a trip across the province recently since things have opened back up again. The Valemount Museum was an unexpected stop but it turned into a highlight of the entire trip. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The displays are all well labeled, with lots of relevant information to the local area. A highlight of the museum for me was how they showcase the entire history of the Valemount area. This includes minorities and women. Very well done local museum, nicely kept and staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. Admission by donation. Focus is on: local industries/the railroad (be sure to visit restored caboose); Japanese WW2 internment camps and contributions from internees; area pioneers.
