Not sure why others are raving about this place. There's no signs showing what food, pastries and baked goods they offer, or a sign board with prices. Looked at me like I should have know what flavours the pastries were when I asked, and what food they offer. But! They have the foresight to print a hundred signs telling you what to do or not do. From what I remember, here's all the signs and paper print outs they have plastered everywhere on the premise:

  1. They only accept cash. And only Canadian dollars. Your USD, Euros, Francs are of no use.
  2. No pets allowed anywhere on the premise.
  3. "Water is expensive. It's not free even in the beautiful mountains. So when you flush, make sure you use the appropriate dual flush on the toilet."
  4. Don't touch the thermostat in the washroom.
  5. Don't shut the interior washroom door, but shut the outside door with the little window.
  6. Don't touch the pastries! Yet the pastries are put out in the little tiny waiting area in front of the counter uncovered. While the giant space and bread shelves behind the counter are empty.

As for their customer service, the owner lady needs to learn some. She kept barking at people "excuse me! Who's next!" Maybe they shouldn't be putting their pastry rack in the already cramped space where people are trying to line up to give you their money.

Now as for the food, also nothing to rave about. The sausage roll was ok, but the other pastries were not good at all. They ran out of the soup of the day and pasta at 1pm on a summer Saturday.

I want to support this local business, but it's pretty bad. Not worth the out of...

Arrived late Friday morning and the place was hopping. Baguettes were already gone, but still a nice assortment of bread available.

Sweet treats were available and left with Madelines (very tasty but perhaps a day or two old), a FANTASTIC “health” cookie (chewy, ginger pieces, raisins) and an apple strudel bar (looks and smells delicious but haven’t tried yet because Madeline and “health” cookie filled us up.

Looks like a popular place with locals, tourists and pipeline workers. Many eating in, having lunch. Has a tiny indoor space to eat, and slightly larger patio.

Staff were energetic, nice and friendly, smiling and dusted with flour just as one should be working in a bakery.

Recommend checking hours of operation before going. Seems to be stabilized being open 10 to 4 Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but past experience have seen these change without notice.

Really glad to have given the new owners a chance. They seem to have settled into their groove since opening last year and are doing an outstanding job with...

Super delicious and very lovely owners, would highly recommend to anyone passing through Valemount. We ended up in town unexpectedly as a result of a car accident, and had to wait for the train right across from the bakery. The owner heard that we were stuck in town and had walked all the way across town in the snow to come to the bakery while we were waiting, so she gave us muffins and sausage rolls free of charge which was a really nice gesture and definitely lifted our spirits! We got some amazing soup that was warm and homestyle, with two huge pieces of bakery bread, and even though it was about 3pm in the day, there was still a nice selection of baked goods and desserts. This was a lovely establishment that took us in and you could tell there was genuine care in the service. Definitely...

best bakery in valemount, by far - okay, that’s easy considering that there aren’t any real alternatives. but, swiss bakery easily holds up to the highest standards you might have. i love the fact that they are using the best ingredients. also organic ones, if that’s important to you. staff is also friendly and welcoming, which all in all leads to a rather long line in front of the shop, because it’s quite a popular place. delicious bread & pastries. totally worth a visit if you are in town or passing through. lots of parking in front of the shop. only downside, they start opening from 10am - which might be a little late for a few.

Absolutely AMAZING experience! This bread was the highlight of my roadtrip! While on my way to Jasper from Vancouver last week, I stopped in Valemount and discovered there was a Swiss Bakery…but unfortunately found out it is closed on Tuesdays. Luckily for me, the owner, Tim, just happened to be there and was SO welcoming and kind and even got me a loaf of Rye bread. It was such a delightful experience and the bread was DELICIOUS!! This bakery is not to be missed! Authentically good bread with an authentically kind owner to match!!

Cute little bakery! I come to Valemount every so often and we ALWAYS stop here, it's such a highlight in Valemount. Due to health issues I no longer eat dairy or gluten and was hoping they would have something for me - but there wasn't (nooooooooo!). That's ok, I had a little bite of something, buy it would have been absolutely wonderful if they had a little treat for those with food restrictions or allergies. Regardless, I still come here and smell the goodness and buy goodies for my family ❤️
