Edge Catering did our wedding in June and they did a spectacular job. We worked primarily with Gemma, who was incredibly well-organized and transparent about everything. Because it turns out that our wedding guests had, between them, a ridiculous number of food allergies and sensitivities (how is someone with an egg allergy even still alive??), Gemma had to come up with some pretty creative solutions for menu items. But you wouldn't even know that some of it was gluten/shellfish/dairy/egg/nut/lentil/chickpea/etc-free.
Gemma also did a walkthrough of our venue with us prior to the wedding date (despite the fact that she is familiar with the venue), and made tons of helpful suggestions. Black curtains to block out guests needed here and here; bar tables here and here. Just the kind of stuff that you'd never think you needed because you don't cater events, and Gemma was on the ball to ensure that we had all the stuff we needed.
Gemma was sure that she was clear on the general atmosphere we wanted for our wedding (cocktail-party feel rather than formal sit-down), and made some great suggestions. We opted for food stations rather than sit-down or buffet-style. Each station had a different small plate, from the fancy (scallop ravioli) to the not-so-fancy (tater tot poutine). Each station was manned by an Edge employee who arranged and then handed out the small plate. Our guests lost their minds over this setup. Everyone complimented us on how the event felt much more social and casual, since people could choose what they wanted one plate at a time and then just stand around mingling. It was similar to a buffet but the downside of a buffet is that each guest has a single big plate that they invariably load up with food and then have to stand there trying to hold a heavy plate in one hand and a drink in the other. With the small plates, everyone just had their single little plate with a classy amount of food on it, and then they'd go back and get another. Since everyone had to visit the various stations for food, guests were able to have all kinds of conversations because they needed to move around.
As is typical of brides, I didn't get to eat a damn thing at the wedding because I was so busy. I wish I had, though. The food was beautifully presented, and all our guests said it was incredibly tasty. We put in a pierogi station exclusively for my dad, who is an expert and therefore never happy with the pierogies he is served. He said these were the second best he'd ever eaten (second only to my grandma's), which is high praise indeed.
When we arrived at the venue, I was shocked at how many Edge staff were present. I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly not the army of caterers that arrived. The catering coordinator for the night, Stephen, was incredibly well-organized and ran the whole outfit like the captain of a ship. The serving staff were extremely friendly and seemingly omnipresent. Every time I had an empty glass, someone was there offering me another champagne flute. Dirty plates were whisked away before anyone noticed. Spills were cleaned up immediately. The two Edge staff who were bartending were super efficient. We had two cocktails on the menu which I assumed were just going to be pre-mixed but they impressively did them two cocktails at a time. We'd bought a keg of lively local pilsner which, in retrospect, was a mean choice because pilsner is a slow-pour beer. Despite their frustrations with the keg, the bartenders did a bang-up job of getting pints out. And the lineup at the bar was never longer than three guests deep.
We couldn't have asked for a better overall experience with a caterer. Hire these people for...
Read moreWe received unsolicited feedback from almost every guest at our wedding saying how amazing the food was. Typically wedding food is never great, but the fact that so many of our guests came up to us to tell us how great the food was speaks wonders. We didn't have to ask anyone how their meals were, as we were told before we could even ask. This alone should tell you to book your catering events with Edge! On top of that, the service the staff provided was the best I have ever seen. They were professional, friendly, and incredibly customer service focused.
We were so lucky that Edge Catering was available for our wedding weekend. We were working with Amanda and she was able to quickly respond to all of our questions, make changes based on our requests, and provided us with many options to choose from. We had a lot of dietary restrictions which Amanda and team handled without any issues.
Edge also catered our rehearsal dinner buffet, where they dropped off the food and catering items and picked them up later. The food was great, setup was smooth and efficient, and the team was amazing.
THANK YOU Amanda and the Edge Catering team! There is no one else we will work with in the future and we 100% recommend for anyone to...
Read moreMy husband and I worked with Judy and the team at Edge Catering for our May 2017 wedding. From our initial meeting with Judy to the end of our reception, our experience with Edge was phenomenal. My husband and I came in with a strict budget that we really wanted to stay within and Judy took so much care in making sure our menu would stay within budget. Judy took so much care in helping us get a mostly vegetarian menu together, that was truly representative of the food my husband and I love. We had an awesome tasting at the Edge cafe, where we could fine tune our menu and address any allergy concerns we had for our guests.
On the day of, the staff and Judy were exceptional in their execution of the day. My wine glass was never empty and boy, was the food delicious! We had so many compliments on our food and certainly have the Edge team to thank for that! Beyond that, we barely had any leftovers. They perfectly anticipated how much food we needed for our wedding of 100 guests. This made us feel great, especially considering our budget concerns.
Our only complaint is that we didn't get to eat as much of the food as we wish we could have! Thank you Judy for being part of our...
