Ukama Gallery — Attraction in Vancouver

The gallery is a pure delight to visit, and the staff is knowledgable and helpful. We wanted several pieces in the gallery! We purchased a stone sculpture by Maganiso Vissensio from Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, a small piece from the sculpture was lost somewhere between leaving the gallery and placement in our home; we acknowledged that this could have been our error. Ukama Gallery, at the very entrance to Granville Island, should be considered a destination within that tourist attraction. With a very interesting mix of BC, Canadian and international artists, this gallery includes sculptures, paintings, and jewellery, for dicerning tastes. To make it even more relevant, the curator is constantly rotating it's exhibits, so there is always a reason to stop by. Price range is quite reasonable for the art here! I bought a beautiful large painting and needed it shipping to Australia. The owner and staff were wonderful, they packed it up really securely and I was able to take as extra luggage on the plane for $80 saving heaps not having to freight it.
