New to the city and went here for lunch yesterday while exploring the area. It took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged when we walked in even though a couple of people saw us and made hasty eye contact but when the host came over he seemed genuinely friendly and was very accommodating and asked us where we wanted to sit. We chose to sit at the high top chairs looking out at the boats. We were brought water in short order which I really appreciated. My husband ordered the tomato soup to start and a poke bowl. I decided on the grilled bacon and lobster sandwich that comes with tomato soup. My husband got his soup and it looked delicious and was presented nicely. He confirmed that it was indeed very tasty. It took a fair bit of time to get our mains as we sat there for a while after he finished his soup but we were entertained by the captain of the fishing boat that had docked as he was filleting the salmon that was just caught. It was also fairly busy at lunch and we weren’t in a hurry. Our lunch was delivered and my husband’s poke bowl looked amazing. He confirmed that it was indeed very flavorful. My soup was delicious but my sandwich was much less appealing. First off, only one side of the sandwich was at all grilled and it was very lightly grilled and the other side I don’t even think hit the grill. It was basically bread. Now, for a $29 sandwich I expect a little more than white wonder bread although it may have gotten a pass had it actually been cooked. The filling, while very light on any actual cheese, was very tasty with the bacon and lobster meat. I was extremely disappointed. Then I look over and I pull a hair out of my husband’s poke bowl. At that point, I only had a couple of bites of my sandwich left and I couldn’t eat the rest because now I’m not only disappointed, I’m also grossed out. Did we say anything and complain? Nope. Why, you ask,… because nobody ever came to check up on us or ask us how anything was. We even sat there with our plates pushed away for quite some time. Finally, when my husband had gone to use the washroom, someone came by to take my plate but still didn’t ask how anything was. Then a few min later once my husband got back to his seat our server came to collect his plate but still didn’t ask if everything was ok even though his was only half eaten. We asked for the bill, paid and left. Maybe it was just an off day so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars instead of 2 but we just won’t be back. 3 stars simply because for the most part the flavors were there but only 3 stars because there was such a lack of quality control and service. This is the photo of the uncooked side. The colour on the bread is from whatever that sauce/oil got on it, otherwise the bread is...

My partner and I arrived for dinner 7.15pm and chose to seat inside rather than on the dock we prefer air-conditioning!! We were sat straight away and our server, Julien, arrived to welcome us soon after.
Julien outlined the specials and highlighted elements of the menu he thought we ought to look at. He was right, as he persuaded me on what I decided to have.
For starters I had fresh mussels which were cooked with homemade chorizo, and leeks and were served with garlic toast. I love mussels, and the idea of cooking them with chorizo and leeks was inspired. The rich pepperiness of the chorizo gave a real lift to the freshness of the mussels.
My partner opted for Caesar Salad with romaine hearts, bacon, crispy croutons served with parmesan and a squeeze of fresh lemon. My partner is a fan of Caesar salad, and he says this is one of the best he has ever tasted.
I spent a long time choosing my main course, as there were so many nice things to try. But in the end I took Julien’s recommendation and went with the fresh Lobster. Here the 1.5 lb live lobster was poached in sea-salted water and served with drawn butter. Julien provided me with tools for eating the lobster, but the most difficult parts of the creature had already been broken making my job easier (and less messy). Under the lobster was a lovely selection of vegetables - Green and yellow courgette, broccoli and lightly roasted new potatoes - which had picked up some of the lovely juice from the lobster. The lobster was richly red, evidence of the freshness of the lobster and it tasted every bit as good as it looked.
My partner opted for a Hawaiian style dish of Lobster Poke Bowl - this was lobster, poached baby prawns, steamed sushi rice, corn, mango, green onion, pickled ginger, crispy nori, wasabi mayo, seaweed salad and soy sauce all served together. My partner says this was like a cross between a salad and a stir-fry, the rice and fish were cooked, but the salad was covered in a light vinaigrette and soy. It was a delightful mix of flavours, once you got over the surprise of the textures of cooked and raw ingredients.
We both finished our meals with very little left on the plates.
Dessert for my partner was a New York Style Blueberry Cheesecake, he would recommend the chef on the quality of the biscuit base and the sharpness of the blueberries which offset the sweetness of the cheesecake. Excellent.
Wonderful food, served well, in a lovely location. Who could...
Read moreWent here for the Lobster fest three course menu and I was not disappointed! I went with my fiancée who isn’t a huge fan of seafood, but she let me indulge and she enjoyed her fish and chips. We started with drinks and I was debating on getting a Caesar but when I heard their special was garnished with a couple beans and some maple candied salmon I was sold. Probably one of the best seafood garnished Caesar’s I’ve had in a while and points for originality on the smoked salmon! My fiancée had the 9 oz rose (not sure which one lol). For her meal, she mentioned the coleslaw and fries were good with the one piece halibut meal. Back to the lobster meal though, you start with the seafood chowder which is an amazing chowder and has lots of nice bites from fish to bacon and the broth is perfect (I added a bit of pepper from preference). The main event , it’s advertised as a 1lb Nova Scotian Lobster and it was definitely a big boy maybe even slightly over a pound and was cooked nicely. The tail meat was great and with a little work and the perfect utensils provided I got both claws out cleanly and got tons of meat. I will always be a proud West Coast supporter of the crab being far superior to lobster, but I do like a lobster a few times a year and this was it! The seasonal veggies were some broccolini, grilled Brussels sprouts with two smaller well cooked smashed potatoes. I thought the veggie selection was great, especially if you look at other places. The dessert, a simple warm berry crumble with vanilla ice cream on top that after a massive meal was exactly the exact dish needed to cap off an excellent meal. It was a gorgeous evening, so we sat on the deck overlooking the water which was beautiful as the sun set. The only complaint we had was our table for two was a bit cramped with both our dishes and drinks, but otherwise we liked our spot. Service was great, I can’t remember her name but she was very polite and upfront with us when we just asked to see if a table change might be a possibility and she was quick with the dishes as we mentioned we had a game to get to. I wish I had planned a day off instead of racing downtown from work cause the Vancouver Fish Company is the perfect way to end a day on Granville Island, especially with deals like Lobster fest. I will definitely make a trip back out to Granville Island to try some other menu items...
