if I could give this place zero stars I would. I travel weekly for work and like to stay in nice hotels. I booked at the Parker and was looking forward to my stay. My flight was delayed going into BC and I didn't arrive till 2am. I tried to call the hotel multiple times to inform them I was still coming but no one answered. I picked up my rental car and arrived at 3 am to be greeted by a man who had zero intention of ever helping me. He tells me he doesn't know why im there as all hotel guest are already "checked in and in bed" I pulled my confirmation number up and show him my confirmation. he proceeds to tell me that the company card "declined" and they tried to contact "the company" but no one answered so they cancelled my reservation and were "completely sold out" on a Sunday night. I render a paid for in full receipt showing the company was indeed charged for the room and along with my confirmation code I expect him to find a room for me or show me proof of cancellation of the room (which he never could provide) instead of offering to call hotels in the area and help me find a room, He starts to get an attitude with me and tells me he doesn't have a room for me and I need to leave. at this point its 330am. I am a woman traveling solo for work and this rude man sent me out on the streets at 330 am with no help or empathy for my situation. I called multiple hotels in the area all claiming to be sold out (apparently this is what they all say at 330 am) I finally show up to a holiday inn and even after telling me they are sold out the manager admits they have over 30 rooms available so I booked a room. the next day my company called the hotel to inform them that they were indeed charged for the room. I was so upset at how I was treated that I decided after work I would go back and inform the manager what happened and how I was treated. the manager immediately comes down and starts going off on me saying he heard how "rude" I was to his staff and that If I didn't leave he would be calling the police. so I told him if he didn't give me the corporate number that I would be calling the police. the manager called the police on me who showed and got the corporate number for me as I was well within my rights to be on the property and wasn't doing anything wrong. this place is full of men who have problems with woman and its very clear by the managers response that this place is not safe, not welcoming and isnt worth a $1. save yourself and find a hotel that realizes they are in the hospitality industry. a bunch of lazy people not wanting to do their jobs and had zero issue with putting my safety at jeopardy by sending me out on the streets at 330 am with no...
Read moreI would rate this 3.5/5. Unfortunately, I did not receive the best service from some folks and it started before even arriving at the hotel and followed through until I left. That said, It is quite a beautiful space. It is just a shame the service was not up to the same standards. Obviously this is subjective, but for me, I appreciate a friendlier and warmer approach. 8/10 times the service was distant and cold. It was a bit awkward and uncomfortable. I stayed here for 4 nights! The older caucasian gentleman who shuttled me to my conference was great. The gentleman who worked night shift who brought me up cultlery was also great! However, most of the men working at the front desk were not so nice. It is not that they were necessarily rude, but as I mentioned above it was distant and cold and therefore it was not my cup of tea. On my first night, a Sunday, there was music blaring late into the night. I came to Vancouver to present at a conference and it was not ideal. I called the front desk and they were not able to fix the issue and they did not appear to be concerned (hence lower stars). A little empathy would have improved my overall experience. Additionally, the bathroom smelt like urine. I presume it was from the shower curtain. I am not sure how the scent was missed during cleaning, but again, not ideal. I will likely not choose to stay here again but I do hope they can improve their service. It is curious that this hotel has gone through several iterations. I wonder what that is about. Also, if you are a woman, I would be mindful about staying here if you feel uncomfortable around men, as almost all staff are men! I personally would not feel comfortable staying here alone (several other colleagues had their own rooms which made me feel more comfortable). That is just me and is not due to the men here specifically if that makes sense. It i just my preference and comfortability. I guess I should add some positives too... the location is pretty great if you are wanting to be close to Yaletown, the Stadium, or Kits (super close by bus), and it is also walking distance to the Yaletown sky train, so even more accessible. The area itself is quite beautiful, but when I come to Vancouver I prefer to stay near Burrard and Georgia (just my preference). Also, it was great they had a free shuttle! Maybe I will stay here again...
Read moreI stayed here for a few nights and the only two perks are that its pet friendly so I could take my dog, and the location is great. There are many other hotels in downtown Vancouver though, so I wouldn't give it too much credit for location in the long run. First off, the staff were hardly accommodating at all. I had to stand at the desk to wait for someone to come out of the back room- there's no bell or anywhere for you to knock if they don't hear you at the counter- and when I did get their attention they were on their cellphone and blatantly asked if I was waiting for them as if I was an inconvenience. With covid going on I understand that a lot of their services weren't available at the time, but I didn't think that meant all service as a whole. The hotel itself is old and really worn in. I'm not sure if there's a difference between the pet friendly rooms and the other rooms, but my room was quite beat up. There were marks and rips all over the walls and ceiling, and a thick layer of dirt along the edges of the carpet against the walls. The heating system is rather loud too, and while I was staying there there was really loud construction outside all day, every day. The hallways matched my room, and throughout the entire floor it reeked of stale cigarettes, despite there being a "no smoking" rule. The shower had hardly any water pressure, and although the towels and bedding seemed pretty clean, the duvet on the bed was just sandwiched between two bedsheets without a proper cover. With all that said it still served as a safe place to stay and I got my work done. If you're looking for a cheaper hotel in downtown, want to bring your pet, and don't really mind the state of cleanliness or smell of cigarettes then this place might be alright for you. I certainly won't be staying...
