Escape Game Entertainment Waterloo — Attraction in Waterloo

Very bad experience here. The person running it when we were there behaved as if she hated her job and every person that stepped through the door instantly. Every other escape room I’ve been to (many) the staff are warm and welcoming and happy to help. The exact opposite was happening here. We did the Jays escape room and while the set up is fun and cute, and the puzzles alright, once you obtain the correct codes, and plug them into the device, nothing happens. So of course you rethink everything and waste time and then ask for the solution on the iPad and it’s the original code you had figured out so you try pressing it in again and again and again to no avail until like the 10 the time the same code finally works. Yes we should have asked the staff member for guidance but with the demeanour she displayed I honestly didn’t expect much help from her, rather she appeared like she would certainly have given us attitude, blamed it on us etc. At the end we finally did convey our frustrations about the puzzles not working only to be treated as we expected but we were offered a credit to my account. I have done many escape rooms over the past 12 years and this is by far the worst. The room we did was "Haunted Heirloom" and it was neither haunted nor contained any heirlooms. It was poorly laid out, sparse in its decoration, and everything looked extremely cheap. The puzzles that were working were contrived and sometimes triggered something else that wasn't immediately obvious. At one point, the host had to enter the room because we couldn't find what were indicated as "clues around the room", when it was just a cheap laminated Microsoft Word document behind a door that didn't open properly. When we finished the room, there was no actual "escape" from the room or a clear indication that we did finish, so we left the room to find the host who asked "Oh, did you finish?" because he had no system to notify him that we did.

If the desk falling apart in the poor excuse for a lobby isn't your first indication, then take my advice and stay away from this one. There are far better escape room locations in the region that set the bar for quality higher than this place could ever...

Wow! This place was honestly stellar. The rooms are very high-tech, with well-thought-out theming that fully immerses you into these stories.

My group did kidnapped, and it for sure left us scared, as it was a nice difficulty and scary at the same time. It had fun surprises along the way that surprised us. Additionally, the hint system is the best you will find in the KW Region, as it is accessible to all and outstanding. We had an awesome time, and the cherry on top was our gamester, Taylor.

She is one of the nicest people I have ever talked to and so relatable. You can tell she truly enjoys doing her job, which makes it more fun for us. She welcomed us in with a positive attitude and upon leaving was very genuine and kind.
