Double Taste Shawarma — Restaurant in Waterloo

We've had their wraps before and they were some of the better ones in the area. This last visit we decided to try the pizza. We knew we had almost an hour to spare so we asked how long that takes and the young woman working said 15 minutes, which gave us lots of time. After about 25 minutes she told us another 5-6 minutes. This repeated a few times as we got visibly more stressed about making our next commitment in time. After 45 minutes she took it out and gave it to us. Everything on top - the chicken and sauces - were great, but the dough was barely cooked. Something must be broken with the pizza oven and they were trying to avoid admitting it, which caused a lot of unnecessary stress, probably for her as well as for us. I wish she had just told us that pizza wasn't available that day and offered us wraps or plates instead.

I'm not going to make the rating too harsh because hopefully this is a short-term equipment failure meeting a staff member unprepared for it, both of which are fixable problems. But with so much good shawarma in the area, it might be enough to make us think twice...

Super disappointed in this place. My family has been going to DT for well over 10 years, the Kitchener location before they open in Waterloo. It’s always been our favourite. The last 3 times we have gone it has gotten worse. The staff don’t speak to you and mostly hang out in the back and seem inconvenienced when they have to come out to serve. We were in a month ago and were served old shawarma, it was so dry and obviously not fresh. It was lunch time as well, so you’d assume it would be fresh. Also, not sure if they changed their gravy but the poutine had a rancid flavour - unless they don’t clean their gravy kettle. I was in today with my daughter and the tables were dirty, garbage was overflowing and not a single table was clean or had napkins in their holders. My guess is ownership has changed as I never see the previous staff - they were always so friendly and chatty, food was impeccable and the atmosphere welcoming. If I could i would give 0 stars the service sucks. When the person was taking orders she could have just asked is it take out as we are closing in 5 minutes u can't dine in. She new we were gonna dine in as my family was already sitting on the table after taking $ half way in to making of food she said oh you can't dine in we are closing. So I said okay we will cancel the order she started arguing that I already made the food. This 8s my first time at this place and 100%my last. I don't recommend this place as they have 0 sense of customer service. Food safety as she never washed her hands just out on glove and used the same gloves making food and checking out delivery screen uber or skip. Maybe I should report to health inspector to come and check if the server has food safety training and...
