Kurtis Jewellers — Attraction in Waterloo

We heard about this store 27 years ago when Kurt owned it, through word of mouth. I bought my wife's engagement ring, wedding ring and my wedding band here. Almost 30 years later they still look brand new and we get compliments all the time on them - quality product was Kurt's way. Fast forward to today, when I heard Kurt sold this business I was a bit wary if the quality of product and service would remain the same. It did, the new owners have Kurt's passion and he was smart enough to sell it to people who would carry on the tradition. Today they fixed my gold bracelet's lobster claw spring for a very fair price. Thank God it broke in my house and I didn't lose it out on the street. I bought that bracelet from Kurt 25 years ago. Many jewelry stores would tell you it needed the whole new claw for $400-500 easily, not these new owners - their honest like Kurt. They fixed it for much less and I trust them and I like their staff just like the vibes I had with Kurt when it was his. When I picked up my bracelet today they had also cleaned it to perfection, which was a nice touch. Today I also gave them my wife's wedding rings to go over all the claws to make sure she didn't lose any stones and immediately I was told by Cindy, at least one claw was damaged. They will have their Jeweller go over it in detail, call me with a quote and fix it and clean it. This is a gem of a store

Kurtis Jewelers is our go-to jeweler in Waterloo Region. They are located on the second floor of an office building in North Waterloo and have a secure double entrance. Ring the bell to get in the first door, then they see you through the glass on the interior door and let you in. I assume if you look threatening, they would just call the police instead of opening the second door so I always try to look like a respectable customer.

Today we took a variety of rings that I never wear (aside from my engagement ring, which was broken and too small). I had inherited them from family members and I hoped to find out more about some of them and figure out how to make some of the rest into something I would wear.

I had 3 blue rings, some old, and found out 2 are man-made stones and the third is an aquamarine. I had my own engagement ring that was broken (again) and several other rings. The staff was very helpful in looking them all over and helping us decide what to do. I'm using a larger diamond from my grandmother's ring in a new setting for a replacement engagement ring (since mine is broken) and using my original wedding band along with another ring to make a new wedding band that matches my new engagement ring. They're using one of the smaller diamonds from one of the rings to replace a missing diamond in my school ring and repairing another ring (or is that fourth?) .

In all this looking and thinking about what I had, they never pressured us to just buy something entirely new, although my husband had suggested that was an option. Instead they worked with us to make something I hope we'll love out of pieces we already had....

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Richard and his team! Prior to knowing Richard, my fiance and I got engaged. He got me a beautiful ring and I loved but I started to notice that the quality of the ring was not corresponding with what was on the gemology info card. I saw a big black spot in my ring and for the price, it wasn't right. We got Richard to look at the ring and he could see right away that the quality was poor. In addition to my engagement ring, we got our wedding bands through Richard as well and now I am even more stunned by the quality, pricing, options he offered and the quick turnaround. Richard has become a friend to us, he is extremely trustworthy, honest and there is zero stress when you leave things in his hands. I thought finding a ring would be stressful but he makes the whole process enjoyable and easy. I have now sent people to also get engagement rings through him and of course, he provided impeccable service and results. I am so happy with the service, friendship , ease and quality Richard has provided. I would never go anywhere else. Thank you...
