The staff are friendly and generally treat guests well. It is the small details in the environment that really make the difference - to me, it is that they just seem a bit more human. Overall, I find that the experience from the parking lot to your theatre seat is WAY smoother than at a Cineplex.
The staff are considerate in small but meaningful ways. For example, they have no problems with you waiting inside on a cold day and don't hurry you out. The washrooms also tend to be upkept well and they time movie releases so that the lineups aren't as long. This is also one of the few theatres that don't mind giving you a cup of water if you need it and have fountains available near the theatres. Generally, staff are friendly and don't look miserable like they do in Cineplex.
Atom (the app which you can buy advance tickets) is well done and allows you to by pass line ups. You can buy your food and snacks in advance. The food has a good selection and sticks to the classics: candy, popcorn, ice cream, coffee, etc. They also have coke freestyle which lets you mix as many pops as you'd like and I find quite enjoyable. Additionally, this is one of the few places they still do refills (limited to some sizes). Moreover, they do not stop you from bringing your own water bottles, which is both environmentally safer and is really great for people with dietary sensitivities.
The theatres have assigned seating and you can be sure you will get a good seat if you book in advance. However, upon arriving at the theatre at 10:25 pm with my three friends, I was shocked to find the doors locked and the staff intentionally ignorant of our presence at the front doors. Despite waiting for an extended period, knocking on the doors, we could see employees inside and they simply turned away from us. It was so embarrassing for me as my friends visited me from Toronto to Waterloo, especially for this movie. There was no disclaimer on the tickets that the doors would be locked at a specific time. I also have a video with the time frame to support this. This unexpected closure not only disrupted my plans but also left me feeling stranded and inconvenienced. I had made arrangements and allocated time specifically for this movie, only to be met with a closed theatre and no explanation. Such an experience is both disheartening and unacceptable.
