I went with a group of six to AlMadina to celebrate a birthday and we were all very disappointed. The customer service was absolutely horrible, the food wasn't any better, especially for the price we paid. Just as a heads-up to anyone trusting their online menus, the prices are now $2 more, and they no longer serve anything with eggplant. When you're going to this restaurant be prepared to spend a lot of money... and not get any value in return. Each of us ordered a plate (each $19+) and were expecting to get good food and have a nice time. When we were ordering, we realized there is no flexibility in what is offered with the plate - change of dip = extra charge, change of salad = extra charge - and they didn't even tell us that what we were changing in our orders would result in an extra charge. When we got the food, the portion was TINY. For $19+ we were expecting a generous amount of food, but we were completely wrong. The fries were overcooked and way too salty, and none of us enjoyed the rice either. The worst part about our visit was that it seemed like the only thing the staff cared about was our wallet. When we came in we got "complimentary" pita with dip. Now let me get this straight. EVERYONE who comes in gets complimentary pita no matter what they order as the pita comes before you even place your order. Then we all ordered plates, that clearly said "comes with a basket of pita" which means that our ORDER which we PAID for comes with pita. When our plates came, and for 10 minutes there was no sign of any pita, we asked for more and were told that we already got our pita when we came in and any extra pita now would come at as extra charge. So we told the waitress that the pita we had was complimentary and that we had now ordered a plate that came with extra pita (its not like we were asking for free food - we were going to pay the steep price for it). She then went on to tell us that the menus were changed last night and now the plates we ordered didn't come with pita, which we found strange as we had read the menus only 20 minutes before. After checking the menu, they saw that we were indeed correct and that our (SIX) plates actually came with pita. So she brought us a basket of four extra pita and said "here you are, any extra will come with an extra charge." I don't know how six orders of plates that said comes with "a basket of pita" is equal to only getting four pitas, but if anyone figures that out please let me know! After that, we let it go. By that time, my friends and I just wanted to finish our food and leave before they could add an extra charge for us staying too long! There are better restaurants out there with much better food, better prices and great service (Shawerma Plus in the University Plaza being one of them and Arabesque if you want the same type of food but tastier and cheaper). Please don't make the mistake we did and waste your time and money...
Read moreI recently had a wonderful dining experience at Almadina Restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my visit.
I decided to try their Chicken Shawarma with vegetables and cheese, and I was not disappointed. The portion size was generous, and it was a filling and satisfying dish. The chicken was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked, and the combination of vegetables and melted cheese added a delicious twist to the traditional shawarma. It was a flavorful and enjoyable meal.
In addition to the Chicken Shawarma, I also tried their Chicken Shawarma and Falafel Shawarma Wrap. Both were tasty and exceeded my expectations. The Chicken Shawarma had tender and juicy chicken wrapped in soft bread with fresh vegetables, creating a delightful combination of flavors. The Falafel Shawarma Wrap, a vegetarian option, had crispy falafel balls, a medley of vegetables, and a delectable sauce, all wrapped in warm bread. It was a satisfying choice for those looking for a meatless option. Desert was great official Cheesecake Factory chocolate cheesecake they have 3 different flavours
One of the highlights of Almadina Restaurant is its reasonable prices. With taxes included, my bill, including drinks, came to $61. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, I found it to be quite affordable. It's a great value for the dining experience they provide.
Speaking of drinks, I highly recommend trying their mango/guava drink. It was a refreshing and delightful blend of flavors that complemented the Middle Eastern dishes perfectly. It's definitely worth trying during your visit.

Read moreThere's something about Middle Eastern cuisine that never fails to comfort me when life is tough. Amidst life's trials, the aromatic spices, hearty stews, and warm hospitality serve as a comforting embrace, soothing both the soul and the senses. Seeking this experience, I went down to the Boardwalk to try out ALMADINA Woodstone Oven & Grill (330 The Boardwalk, Waterloo, ON N2T 0A6). A restaurant located in one of the most happening areas of Waterloo, this eatery served me the best Middle Eastern food I had in a while.
Hoping to start off with a palate cleanser, I ordered the signature AlMadina Salad plate - an appetizer platter fit for a Middle Eastern feast, boasting a vibrant trio of hummus, tabbouleh, and tzatziki, the dish was paired with crisp and golden pita chips, making for the perfect segue into the entree. My main course was a mixed grill plate - the ultimate carnivore's delight showcasing the mastery of charcoal barbecue. First, the succulent shish kabob, boasted tender chunks of marinated beef, charred to smoky perfection. Next, the shish tawook had tender chicken imbued with a melody of spices, offering a burst of flavour with every bite. And then, the kofta: two skewers of seasoned ground meat, grilled over charcoal to achieve a delectable char and caramelization. Could not ask for anything better!
Should you find yourself in Waterloo craving Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine, I'd be remiss if I didn't direct you to ALMADINA. Whether you're looking for something halal, something vegetarian, or simply something delicious, you are sure to find your pick here. Warmly recommended!
