Where I come from dog parks are fenced in large areas, you can see the whole area to keep an eye on your dog though. But they have logs and gravel areas of different heights, grass areas, water fountains for humans and dogs, some have water dogs can swim in. But your dog cannot leave area and feels better knowing you can always see your dog and they cannot wander off and get lost or hit by cars or get into fights or something. They have these areas in almost every park now, even right downtown. They have also been putting them in where space cannot be used for much else. Like inside the loops at freeway entrances and exits. Perfect size. All it takes is a 4 foot high chain link fence around it. Read moreI do like Garbage Hill for running my dog, but if your dog is "a runner" it's not fenced in. Sometimes deer or other animals might be present, so your dog could give chase. Furthermore, if your dog is a digger, it's not a good spot for you. There are a lot of deep holes with glass shards from the previous dump. My puppy was inspecting these, so I was a bit worried he'd cut his paws. There are mostly friendly people at this park and well-behaved dogs. Check it out at least once and decide for yourself. I do hope the city comes out to fill dug-out holes, aside from glass shards and paws, because they could be dangerous for those guests who are staring down at their phones.
