Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Center — Attraction in Beijing

Sadly, yet another dreadful experience from the Kempinski, Beijing. I had to check out early. I booked to stay for 6 nights and only stayed 3 nights. This was my fourth or fifth stay at the hotel in as many months. Despite issues previously, I gave the hotel one final chance and I regret it.||Executive lounge (Food / afternoon tea) - The food quality and choice has significantly decreased. It was clear the same food was served on two consecutive days (soup) and bread was stale.||Executive lounge (evening drinks) - there have been improvements here with staff now informing guests when evening drinks will end and they are now not removing drinks prior to scheduled end time (8pm). However, it is clear, when certain drinks/bottles are finished, staff do not want to replenish.||Bedroom - I booked a salon suite, and when entering, you are faced with a room which has no purpose other than having a sink; it has no purpose. A senior member of staff said this is the design of the room, but it didn't appear normal as it is clear a toilet should be added, but I was informed that there are no salon suites which have a toilet there. Anyway, I had a dreadful sleep as the room was too hot due to air conditioning set too high (in winter, the hotel controls the air con to a min of 24 degrees). With windows opened for 10 hours, it was still too hot, so they sent a fan to the room. The next day, we switched to another room (north facing) and in this same toom type, there was indeed a separate toilet. NB: disappointing that a member of senior staff lied!||Smoking - it is clear, Kempinski in Beijing permit smoking in bedrooms. I was in room 1556 and my room was constantly smelling of cigarette smoke. Whenever I stepped outside my room, the smell of cigarette smoke in the hall was dreadful. Despite alerting staff about this, nothing happened!||Unwanted visitors - this is an area which I have now experienced at Kempinski in my past couple of visits. Visitors (women) who linger in the evening at reception/bar and even the toilet area. I was approached a few times, even when exiting the toilet. I find it surprising that staff are not aware of this.||Value - despite the above issues (swimming pool was also not in use) which resulted in an early departure, I still had to pay full price!.||It is clear management are not prepared to listen to or even value guest concerns. Do not waste time with this hotel, there is a lot of good...

I gave this 5 stars hotel= ONLY 4 stars . Reasons= Me and my wife checked in a hot day. Temperature in the room was 20 degrees centigrade. We couldn't reduce temperature to 18 degrees centigrade or lower. We called maintenance. 2 guys came from maintenance and checked the air-conditioning. Finally they said Not possible to reduce temperature below 20 degrees centigrade. We had to compromise. Another issue ; The shower/bath is separated from the bedroom by a GLASS wall ! Unbelievable ! Even married couples for many years needs privacy and intimacy ! It's impossible for the husband to see thru the GLASS wall how his wife cleans her vagina, what she takes out, or what she puts in. The same is V.V. NOT possible for the wife to see thru the TRANSPARENT wall what her husband does inside. This is breach of privacy and intimacy. In some religions it's taboo. NOT allowed. Another issue= There were small tubes of shampoo, conditioner, body gel. If a couple checks in by lunch, take a shower one after the other, and by night take another shower one after the other= they may have NOT enough for the morning shower. Quantities must be enlarged. Service is ok. So is food. It's ok. Breakfast was excellent 👌 I give it 5 out of 5 ! Excellent 👍 For the rooms I gave 3 stars. Location it's 4 stars. With service 5 stars= average of 4 stars. This hotel must go some changes to receive from me 5...

This was not the first time I have stayed in that Kempinski hotel, but what happened this time made it the last stay.

Upon arrival at reception the English was so poor, many misunderstandings followed. Room bookings, payment, Miles&More, many things we not able to explain and solve in the end due to language lacks. It was never a problem some years ago. It seemed also a little bit as there was no interest to help at all. I kept all the time polite and quiet but I think some at the receptions in that dark suits does not even care.

Secondly the room, 24 degrees were fixed. It does not matter what you set in the air condition, it does not work at all. Bath tube upon watering up made such strange noises. The smell was also really old and not convenient. Also this air cleanser in that room did not help. Worst was also that 2 big black hairs we on the bathtube upon cleaning the second day. Thirdly the breakfast. How can it be, that at around 06:30 am only 4 guests are in but staff of 10 people is staying around and just talking and half of them playing the phone? I need to look and ask around for someone to get some tea. With so much staff and 4 guests around, it should not happen at all. Last but not least the internet speed is very slow in that hotel and also the quality of the TV program e.g. HBO. This is no HD at all less than 640x480 quality from...
