This is one of the most beautifully located public pools you could hope to find and the worst run facility imaginable.
Typical Hong Kong approach to fitness and exercise. Build a great facility and then staff it with your friends and relatives.Then discourage as many users as possible to keep the place nice and quiet so the employees can have a nice nap.
Ridiculous closing hours..(pool closes from noon until one on Saturday and Sunday so the staff can eat their noodles). There are so many employees surely you could do it in shifts so the pool could stay open during the peak weekend hours. To further alienate the customers at 11:00 they start incessant PA announcements encouraging you to leave by 11:30 to avoid dressing room crowding...as if.
Surly turnstile staff and invisible management pushes Sai Kung Public Pool to the top of the list as Worst Run Fitness Facility in Hong Kong.

My training kit consists of a kick board and short fins, and I do a lot of kick and dolphin kick for my legs. The fins really aid the work out in terms of the demands placed on the leg muscles. Imagine my disappointment when the lifeguard approached to say I have to take my fins off. And then, when I did a length of kick with the kick board instead, the same thing - I was not able to use my board either. Gutted. Incredulous. Frustrated. The ladies in change room and reception...
