The Sai Wan Swimming Shed is a hidden gem in Hong Kong that offers a unique and scenic swimming experience. The swimming shed is located on the western side of Hong Kong Island, and it is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

The swimming shed is a wooden platform that extends out into the water, and it is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or just relaxing by the sea. The water is crystal clear and refreshing, and there are lifeguards on duty to ensure safety.

The swimming shed is also surrounded by stunning natural scenery, with views of the sea and the mountains in the distance. It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet.

The atmosphere at the Sai Wan Swimming Shed is very laid-back, and it is a popular spot for photographers and artists looking to capture the beauty of Hong Kong's coastline. It is also a great spot to watch the sunset, as the orange and pink hues of the sky reflect off the water.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Sai Wan Swimming Shed to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable swimming experience in Hong Kong. The stunning natural scenery, crystal-clear water, and laid-back atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some...

Great small hidden place in Kennedy Town to take photos, which can be both a good and bad thing. The good thing is that the view is gorgeous especially on a clear day when you catch the sunrise or sunset. Either way, the way the water splashes on the rocks and the foam is very calming. It is a bit of a journey to get down here, and an even harder one back up the stairs, so prepare yourself. Also, when it gets dark, make sure you have your own light as there are no lights whatsoever here at night and you can easily find yourself lost. Another thing to note: the crowd. Yes, this is one of the biggest drawbacks of this place. As more people find out about this place, they come to take their photos, which can be a pain, especially when you encounter those tryhards that do not leave and believe that this pier belongs to them. This was the case for me as even with reduced visitors, I had to wait an hour and a half for a spoiled lady and her tacky props to give up her spot on a public pier. Anyways, great place but expect some people to be here and a...

Down some steep stairs off Victoria Road in Kennedy Town is a green shack originally built some 50 years ago for swimmers to change into bathing costumes. It is said to be Hong Kong’s last swimming shed, one that’s still used by a few hardy souls before taking a dip in the sea. Though nowadays, it is one of the city’s worst-kept-secret spots for sunsets.

Sai Wan Ho Swimming Shed is located near Kennedy Town MTR station, just 4 stops away from Central. Take Exit A, and you’ll find Green Minibus 58 that will get you there in under 30 minutes. A single trip costs 6.90HKD.

You can also walk about 15 minutes from Kennedy Town MTR along Victoria Road, until you see the red and white sign below. Head down the staircase and you’ll see a green shed right before reaching the pier!

You can also take a bus #1 from Central then take off to Caritas Jockey Club Hostel and you'll see the staircase going down on the other side...

There was line of people waiting to get photos on this swimming shed! We got there right before sunset so it was extra magical. I felt that this was worth a visit to capture gorgeous photos, but my sister thought it was okay. In the line waiting to take photos, we heard different languages so it seemed like a popular photo spot for tourists. The person in front of us in the line was from Taiwan and he flew into Hong Kong that morning for an auto show and planned to fly back the next day. We walked 30+ minutes from the Kennedy Town waterfront promenade up a hill and then down many stairs to get to this place. You can also ride a bus that takes you in front of the entrance to the stairs that take you down to the swimming shed. We wanted to walk and get our exercise in. After capturing lovely photos here, we walked back to Kennedy Town main streets to eat yummy food.

If you’re looking for an out of the norm attraction, then I’d recommend the highly Instagrammable Sai Wan Swimming Shed that has history, scenery, and vintage charm. The shed that is around 60 years old and is the only surviving one of its kind along the coast now has a fresh distinctive coat of green paint. The small bridge/platform that stretches into the ocean and is used by swimmers to get down to the water is a very photogenic spot and even draws a queue for photos on weekends. Right across from the shed is Big Green Island and you can catch the ferries passing through. While it’s not the most convenient place to visit, it is definitely attracting tourists and locals alike this year. Definitely pop by if you’re hiking to Mount Davis from Kennedy Town.

I swam in the sea here. There were people queuing up for photos on the platform, so I asked to go ahead and use the small set of metal stairs on the left to go down to the water (especially as I wasn't "in shot"). The stairs are *very* slippy so go very carefully. There were some large swells and wakes from passing boats. So I wouldn't recommend swimming here if you're not a confident swimmer. I stayed where I could stand since I didn't know where the rocks were further out, and I also didn't want to get bashed about on the rocks when large waves came. I had a lovely dip! Relaxing views. And it was refreshingly cool. There are no changing facilities that I'm aware of. I'd definitely go again.
