There was line of people waiting to get photos on this swimming shed! We got there right before sunset so it was extra magical. I felt that this was worth a visit to capture gorgeous photos, but my sister thought it was okay. In the line waiting to take photos, we heard different languages so it seemed like a popular photo spot for tourists. The person in front of us in the line was from Taiwan and he flew into Hong Kong that morning for an auto show and planned to fly back the next day. We walked 30+ minutes from the Kennedy Town waterfront promenade up a hill and then down many stairs to get to this place. You can also ride a bus that takes you in front of the entrance to the stairs that take you down to the swimming shed. We wanted to walk and get our exercise in. After capturing lovely photos here, we walked back to Kennedy Town main streets to eat yummy food.

If you’re looking for an out of the norm attraction, then I’d recommend the highly Instagrammable Sai Wan Swimming Shed that has history, scenery, and vintage charm. The shed that is around 60 years old and is the only surviving one of its kind along the coast now has a fresh distinctive coat of green paint. The small bridge/platform that stretches into the ocean and is used by swimmers to get down to the water is a very photogenic spot and even draws a queue for photos on weekends. Right across from the shed is Big Green Island and you can catch the ferries passing through. While it’s not the most convenient place to visit, it is definitely attracting tourists and locals alike this year. Definitely pop by if you’re hiking to Mount Davis from Kennedy Town.

I swam in the sea here. There were people queuing up for photos on the platform, so I asked to go ahead and use the small set of metal stairs on the left to go down to the water (especially as I wasn't "in shot"). The stairs are *very* slippy so go very carefully. There were some large swells and wakes from passing boats. So I wouldn't recommend swimming here if you're not a confident swimmer. I stayed where I could stand since I didn't know where the rocks were further out, and I also didn't want to get bashed about on the rocks when large waves came. I had a lovely dip! Relaxing views. And it was refreshingly cool. There are no changing facilities that I'm aware of. I'd definitely go again.

I went there on a weekday during lunch hours, so that there won't be any queues for photos. I stayed there till sunset so i could get some beautiful sunset shots as well, but by 4pm it was already crowded. I ain't complaining though, this one of a kind spot in Hong Kong deserves all the attention. I can't really describe the picturesque beauty through words, so do check out my photos to see what I saw. I've tried my best to capture the stunning hidden gem of a place. Hope you like them! Note: Not ideal for people who have trouble with stairs, the stairs are steep, slim & somewhat slippery.

A pretty and famous place to take photos at one of Hong Kong's most recognisable Instagram landmarks. From Kennedy Town MTR station takes about 15 minutes to walk. Be warned, the entrance itself is easy to miss. Then there are two or three steep sets of steps down. But it's not the shed that's amazing but the picturesque walkway extending into the sea just to the left. That's all there is there to see unless you want to go for a dip. There's nothing in the way of information and I didn't see any place to buy drinks or snacks.

Relatively accessible attraction which is only a uphill 20 mins walk from Kennedy town MTR. Turn in when u see the entrance on your right, and you will see quite a few flights of stairs down. 5 mins walk down from the main road to the shed. The shed is quite small but I bet it would look nice with the sunset. The waves are very strong there and you can’t go into the water. As of mid Oct, it’s completely dark at 6pm so suggest you come at 530pm or earlier. No lights even though there’s lamppost. Add mosquito repellent
