I made a reservation through Openrice 10 days ago for my dad’s birthday dinner. I noticed that there were quite a few table seats in the restaurant and I had made a remark on the booking stating that the meal would be a birthday celebration.

My family and I arrived at the restaurant on time but the waiter gave me 4 crowded bar seats. I asked if a table could be given to us as it was supposed to be a birthday meal.

The staff alleged that I did not mention the reservation was for a birthday celebration when I made the booking. However, when we asked that he double check our booking details on his laptop, we found that it was indeed stated on our reservation and the staff asked us to wait for a table after I pointed it out to him.

Another staff came to me and told me it would be difficult to secure any table for us. He mentioned that I did not confirm my booking when the restaurant tried to call me, which was not true as I confirmed my booking via phone call in the afternoon the same day.

Eventually, the staff told me we had to wait for a small table as all tables were full at the moment, emphasising that guests who had table seats had made their bookings one or two months ago.

My family and I left the restaurant without eating as it was a horrible experience. None of the staff had tried to solve the problem nor apologize for their bad arrangement. All we could feel was that they tried to fish for reasons to blame us for not being able to get a proper seat, such as me not making a reservation early enough or not answering their booking confirmation call (which was...

For my wife's birthday celebration, we went to Comptoir on Sunday, July 26.

Following our arrival, we were promptly seated and given the menu. It's a small restaurant, so the atmosphere is quite cozy. and foods has a sizable menu with a variety of dishes. We placed our orders for the "clams in a bag," "crayfish-champagne risotto," and escargottes right away.

Escargots were delicious to eat. The large, fresh-tasting clams were of excellent quality. Along with the bread they served generously, it also contained a lot of soup.

The crayfish risotto was excellent; it had a champagne flavor but wasn't overpowering. The dish seemed quite unique.

All of the dishes we ordered were under 200 HKD, and the portions were still quite generous, so we believe the restaurant offers excellent value for the money.

To go with the food, we also ordered two glasses of rose.

Special thanks go to the waiter, who made sure that everything was taken care of.

The staff came over to my wife and wished her a happy birthday once our dessert arrived, an apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. They even wrote birthday wishes on the dessert place!

Overall, everything about the experience was excellent—the setting, the people, and the food. Also the price was reasonable. Definitely recommend visiting...

This is probably one of the best French bistro in Hong Kong. Food selection is wide and always fresh. Quality is top notch. The cooking is traditional yet innovative. The team running this restaurant has to be true connoisseurs who are passionate about food - only such people would be able to apply traditional French cooking so expertly to the expected as well as the unexpected. We are always eager to try new items on the menu because we know they are going to be fantastic.

I hesitated to comment on this place because it’s our go-to for when we want something fancy yet hearty. Wouldn’t want it to be too full, but they would deserve it. It’s the kind of place that I’d go even if I don’t live in the neighbourhood - it’s that good! I’m surprised they don’t have a Michelin star yet. Doesn’t cost an arm and a leg either. It’s often full and reservation is...

Excellent value as the prices are very reasonable and certain dish portions were bigger than expected. It's like a french bistro tapas place. The place is cramped and noisy, seating are all backless tall chairs so it's pretty uncomfortable. Service is great. Food is on average, just average. Carbonara lasagna is too salty (heavy enough for 2), beef tartare was tasteless, the churros was meh. What stood out were the escargots, even though they skipped the mash potatoes, the chocolate cookie, truffle cheese croquettes, sweet potato fries. Dog friendly, and wallet friendly. You'll be stuffed!
