One of the interesting places to see along the Olympic Trail on Lantau Island is the Silver Mine Cave located a few minutes walk past the Silver Mine Waterfalls when heading north along the trail. What you will find is a small cave opening in the side of a hill. The tunnel only goes back 15-20 metres before you encounter a barrier to prevent you from going further.
Just outside the cave along the trail is a pavilion structure with park bench eating. You will also find a panel with historical information regarding the cave and how was the location of silver mining starting in 1910. Unfortunately, no mention of any boom of sorts, instead it seems the mining eventually stopped due to low production.
