One of the interesting attractions along the Olympic Trail (Mui Wo - Pak Mong) on Lantau Island is the Silvermine Waterfalls, located just south and east of the Silvermine Cave. The falls are located around 15-20 minutes walk from the start of the trail in Mui Wo.
What you find here is a series of cascades that fall over a rock face into rock pools and a downward stream. During the drier months of the year, there isn't much to see of the falls but the scenery is nice. After some rains, the falls can be much more impressive. In this regard, this particular waterfall is much better to see during the rainy season.

Read moreVery beautiful. The hike to the fall itself is quite therapeutic and depending on which direction you're coming from, you get to pass by the SilverMine Cave. The fall is breathtaking during and immediately after the rains as you get to see it in all its splendour. The water level however reduces significantly on normal days but never runs dry. You can also swim in the three pools and cool yourself after the hike. For the adventurous people,you can easily scale it up to the top pool and get treated to wonderful views around and below as you have yourselves a nice lunch. I am glad...
Read moreHONEST REVIEW. The hike is a good exercise. Plenty of fresh air, nature sounds, few temples along the way and villages to see. The falls, well at this time they are semi dry. And really nothing that blew my breath away. Now if you enjoy a good hike, and want to get that heart and blood pumping, wear some comfy clothing and go for it. This place is not wheelchair accessible. BRING WATER OR ANY BEVERAGE AND SNACKS. AFTER A CERTAIN POINT YOU WILL NEED IT. THERE AREN'T ANY STORES ONCE YOU...
