We stayed 3 nights in our tent and loved it. Don’t book via Airbnb as the account seems inactive just contact via WhatsApp and you will quickly get a response. We woke up every morning to the amazing sounds of the jungle. The campsite is surrounded by nature and we would always choose staying here instead of directly in la Fortuna. The waterfalls and rope swing is in walking distance. We also reached la Fortuna and the hot springs walking (quite a walk though so you might take a Uber). If you are lucky the neighbor offers home cooked meals - make sure to bring some just in case. The hostess is a lovely, very attentive, caring and kind lady. She were served fresh coffee and cookies every morning and even got a lift to catch our bus. She also provided great advise on what to see, where to go and how to save money without ever trying to sell her own tours. Prices are very fair. The bathroom was clean and equipped with toilet paper and soap (which is not standard in all campsites in CR). The site offered various shadowed places and she even thought of underlaying them with stones for rainy days (our tent perfectly survived the stormy rains there and everything stayed dry). For those who don’t have a waterproof tent there is a common area with a roof. Thank you for the...
Read moreMy partner and I were looking for some wild thrills in the rainforest but not TOO wild. Arenal River Tubing & Hiking gave us this and more! It was a very rainy day and there had been a major storm a few days before, which meant that we could tube on a really cool river that would otherwise be too low. We were the only ones on the river, along with Juan Carlos in his kayak, taking excellent care of us. I needed some help with my tubal navigation skills as my little T-Rex arms could barely fit over the tube. No probs because Juan Carlos used his kayak to steer me the right way. The whole trip down the river I was hooting and hollering with glee while Juan Carlos and my partner David rolled their eyes and patiently endured my enthusiasm.
The point is that we were entertained and taken care of in a really special way, from the individual car pick up from the hotel to the clear explanations of the equipment to the yummy treats at the end of the run. Nickie and her partner were friendly, kind, helpful, and so enthusiastic. This was an A++++ activity and I couldn't recommend them...
Read moreThis tubing experience exceeded my expectations in every way! While some of my group went canyoneering & ziplining me and a few others were looking for something a little less intimidating but still fun & adventurous.
Nicki and her crew were super warm and welcoming and the river the chose for us was absolutely perfect for tubing. It was a nice mix of calm patches, moving water, and of course rapids! The rapids were small enough I never felt unsafe but enough to amp up the excitement! We also saw a good bit of wildlife along the float, more than I had seen in my 2 weeks traveling CR up until then. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun to talk with.
At the end Nicki had a big snack feast with fruits, chips, and local candies waiting for us. I could have gone again a second time bc I enjoyed it that much. At about 2 hrs in length for the whole trip (probably 1.5 Hr on the water itself) you definitely get your money’s worth! They also sent some complimentary photos after! I highly recommend if you are in the La...
