4.5/5!

This was a wonderful hotel. My husband and I stayed for two nights for one of our stretches for our honeymoon in Costa Rica. When we arrived, the employee was very kind and she accommodated our early arrival/check-in. They were super responsive on WhatsApp, so they knew we were arriving early.

When we got to our room, she walked us through everything and even helped me out when I annoyingly locked us out. Staff was definitely great!

Our room was mostly clean. Everything was very modern and I loved the towel swans housekeeping left for us. The view was the best part with a completely unobstructed view of the volcano.

The only reason I’m taking away half a star is the little things such as the coffee machine still had the old filter in it. There were termites in our room at night and they would fall onto our bed. Their wings would also fall down. I let the team know and they sent someone to clean it immediately, so it was fine. But, I did have to keep wondering if a termite was going to fall on me!

We didn’t have breakfast here, but it’s at a hotel down the road. The road to get here is gravel, so just be ready for that.

All in all, I would recommend staying here! They have...

We had a very pleasant stay at Fortuna Retreat. The rooms (B3 and A3) were well-designed, clean, and comfortable. The shower had good water pressure, and all amenities were thoughtfully taken care of. The garden and pool were well-maintained, offering a nice space to relax.

The location of the retreat was convenient, with stunning views and a secure property. Parking was easy, and the personalised key provided at check-in was a nice touch. It was also easy to find nearby dining options, including a restaurant right next to the retreat.

During our stay, we visited the North Fields Coffee Tour, which was a fascinating experience with plenty of interesting information about coffee and chocolate production.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed. On our last day, we wanted to check out early, around 6:30 a.m., as we had a long drive ahead to Manuel Antonio. The staff accommodated this effortlessly, making the process smooth and convenient.

Considering the quality of the stay, we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was compared to other hotels in the area. Fortuna Retreat truly offers great value for money, and we highly recommend...

Fortuna Retreat is a brand new hotel, with beautiful design of rooms and garden. Rooms are very clean, personnel are very friendly and while you are inside, you will have great view of Volcano (neighborhood outside the hotel doesn't look great thought). |Hotel is 9 min drive from downtown, nothing in walking distance around.|Hotel is reasonably priced and I would recommend it and it to other guests.||How can it improve:|There is no 24/7 reception, reception leaves by 6 pm, if any help is needed after that, you can't find anyone.|There is no dining option inside the hotel ( breakfast is served at an oasis which is 5 min walking distance. Quality of breakfast is very good with beautiful birds view ,however being out of premises could be inconvenient for some guests.|As there is no dining option inside hotel, it would be nice to have microwave added to the rooms ( or even common area), so if we order food from outside, we can warm it up. |There is no laundry option at hotel, if they add a paid washer /dryer, that would be...

Special shoutout to Yoel for his professionalism, he made sure we were taken care of always during our stay. From the moment we walked in, he helped us with our baggage and made sure to guide us through the room ensuring everything functioned as it should. Little acts of kindness go a long way, especially in a place I imagine sees lots of tourists(good and bad). Embarrassing as it is, I forgot my bag of sneakers in my room when I rushed to checkout for that days’ plans. Yoel made sure to contact us and let us know they were in lost and found. Honesty is rare and not always something to be expected in the world, especially as a foreigner in a new place. He embodied hospitality and left a very warm impression of La Fortuna on me. Other than that, the room was stunning, breakfast was excellent at the restaurant they partner with(I enjoyed the gallo pinto and view of the birds in the mornings)

We couldn't stop talking about this stay. The front desk service/concierge was so sweet and accommodating. She was simply the best with her infectious personality. The property is small but lush. You can get lost - kidding. The rooms are modern and well thought out. I must admit the bathroom and shower area needs some love. It was showing its age and the shower water never got above warm. That was a huge bummer. If the water was more hot then this would've been the perfect stay. You needed codes to enter and leave and to park your car inside the gate. Property staff elsewhere were friendly. It's at the base of Arenal volcano so the view is crazy - when it's not covered in clouds. Lots of birds, horses and cows nearby. The breakfast was a short walk or drive and it was also very good! Highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I had the most incredible stay at La Fortuna retreat! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and celebrated. They even decorated our room beautifully for our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful and special touch. The service here is outstanding—every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay unforgettable. The accommodations were immaculate and comfortable, with breathtaking views that made us feel like we were in paradise. From relaxing in the pool to exploring the stunning surroundings, everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations.
