Enjoyed our stay at Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge. Our bungalow was large. Parking was in front of the bungalow. Nice & clean. Plenty of outlets. Bathroom is large. They do have a large tub with a shower head, like the kind you find in europe. I don't care for this type of set up as I usually end up with water all over the place. Other than that the shower was nice. Plenty of warm water & water pressure was good. Lighting in the bathroom could use some improvement.|bedding was comfortable.|the bungalows do not have AC. It appears many places in Arenal do not have AC. This was no problem. The temperature dropped in the evening. There is a ceiling fan to circulate the air.|You will hear lots of wildlife during the day and night. Frogs & other animals all night. Early in the morning the birds start their singing. This morning we were awakened about 5am by the howling of 5-6 monkeys in the trees above our bungalow. Took us a while to spot them. this was a nice alarm clock.|there is a nice restaurant here. Staff & food is good. Nice place to stop for a drink before bed.|The lodge is in the middle of the wildlife refuge. A nice walking path to see frogs & spiders & birds. Very nice walk.|The lodge is not far from town. maybe two miles? La Fortuna is quite touristy. We were happy to be located a little out of the way.|I would...
Read moreLots of species of FROGs, Expensive, 2 hour tour in a private property.
Me and my husband went on our last day of stay at La Fortuna to try out this night tour. We read the reviews for this tour and had high expectations. This place is MAINly for frogs. If you get to see other animals thats a plus. We get to see a lot of different types of frogs, 15+ species. We saw a snake too. The tree frog is a highlight, you could watch it again and again. Now the guide part, So far the guided tours I have taken, let it be waterfall trekking with a guide, zip lining or a water rafting tour, a guide is the most important part of it. With their knowledge, the way of approaching and their humor, humor is a very important trait, They can make the trip a worthwhile or worst. In our case the guide Raul made this trip WORST. He was very self absorbed and did not pay attention to the group’s needs. He thought his task is mainly to show the frog and get a picture of it in the visitor’s phone. It was monotonous. He was kind of knowledgeable but the way he approached and worked with our group was awful. He had no sense of humor, he was very serious all the time and rude. The server at the restaurant of eco lodge was very courteous than him.
I am giving this tour 2 stars mainly for the...
Read moreSuperb eco-lodge in La Fortuna. Accomdation is clean and spacious surrounded by trees and shrubs. Can hear the sounds at night easily as plenty of designed gaps in walls covered by mosquito netting (mossies not bad at all). We had howler monkeys over us one night stopping debris on the roof! Great experience. Some bugs inside but part of the experience! ||The grounds are full of wildlife including birds, monkeys, anteaters, geckos, snakes and butterflies. We saw a hog-nosed pit viper, eyelash pit viper and snail eating snake. People come here from other hotels to do birdwatching and night tours. As a guest, the tours are offered at a discounted rate. Walking the garden ourselves, we saw about 40 different species of bird over our stay. The night tour is great for different frogs. ||The restaurant on site has fantastic food and drinks, which come out with intricate designs seen in top class restaurants. Taste is superb. While eating, there are many bird feeding stations where you get close up views of lots of tanagrrs, motmots etc. ||The staff are super helpful and friendly. There is a shuttle that you can pay $5 into La Fortuna if you want to eat elsewhere or see town....
