CHOCOLATE , COFFEE & SUGAR CANE TOUR HERE WE ARE!🍫☕️

🍫 May we start with the chocolate & coffee tour , absolutely amazing! Our tour guide Jenny was so hilarious & detail oriented along with being a human encyclopedia of knowledge on coffee, chocolate & sugar cane. She kept the tour entertaining and informative . Learned about coffee & chocolate more than I have in all my life! It’s so crazy how these crops behave & why they produce for us. They truly are little miracle plants, they are also super duper healthy in more ways than I could’ve thought. The best part was she made fresh coffee & hot chocolate which was the best I’ve had in all my life, she makes it from scratch right informe of your face. If you’ve never had 100% cocoa hot chocolate your in for a sweet surprise. They make it traditional native way with a bit of sugar & paprika, totally blows any hot chocolate I’ve had in the last out of the water! We even tried the cocoa fruit itself, there’s like a cotton candy like shell which is edible and tasty, it’s like sweet n sour flesh, cotton like if you will.

Then we had the sugar cane tour @ the end which was super cool cause we got to squeeze the sugar cane plant with this machine by hand then tried it with a shot of the famous Costa Rican liqueur called “ Cacique “ Jenny was so f**king cool! She hooked us up with shot after shot, NOW THATS HOW YOU GET A GOOD TIP WITH ME😏🥳 heheheh! So indeed please don’t forget to tip these hard working people as the wages here aren’t very high, so every dollar counts, I would recommend tipping 20$ minimum....DONT BE CHEAP!🤨 LOL! So Jenny made our evening quite spectacular, we told her we were hungry and she walked us over to the restaurant next door & introduced us to the staff as her friends😇 such a sweet lady! I

In conclusion I would recommend this tour all day everyday if you like to have a interactive tour where you actually taste the product they grow and once again a family friendly environment for all to enjoy!😇🙌🤟🏼

Health wealth Youth & eternal blessing to all my fellow...

I went on the Rainforest Chocolate Tour during an afternoon in La Fortuna in February 2019.

I had emailed prior to my visit to make a reservation for the 1 PM tour. Reservations are required for the tours here. I also booked the very affordable shuttle transportation offered by the chocolate farm for $6 USD round trip. I was picked up promptly in front of the church in La Fortuna and it was a short 7 minute drive to the chocolate farm.

We had a small group of about 10 people for the tour and the whole experience was around 1.5 hours. My tour guide was Kevin and he was knowledgeable about the chocolate-making process, and he had a funny and friendly personality. The tour was held in English.

The tour was informative and fun. We learned about the history of chocolate from its beginnings to the present day and then toured the farm, learning about every step of the process to make chocolate from the cacao bean, as we walked around the small and peaceful plantation. We were able to explore the tree farm and check out the cacao beans growing on the trees in various sizes and colours. The process included harvesting, fermenting, drying, roasting, cracking, removing the shells, and grinding the seeds into a paste. We got to taste the cocoa beans at various stages of the process, including right at the beginning when our guide cracked open a cacao bean and we tasted the seed when it was covered in a sweet white pulp. I enjoyed the flavour of the roasted seeds with pure 100% cocoa inside. We had the opportunity to take part in some of the steps of making chocolate as well, including grinding the seeds into a paste.

At the end of the tour, we got to sample an unlimited amount of hot dark chocolate fondue with a variety of toppings to choose from, as well as, delicious hot chocolate. It was so tasty and amazing!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the Rainforest Chocolate Tour. It was educational and interactive, great for people of all ages and definitely an...

We had a very enjoyable visit here. Our guide Reiko was hilarious and the tour was very educational. Our kids (10 and 12) enjoyed the interactive portion of the experience, but did not love the taste testing as much as my spouse and I did. This is real chocolate, not Snickers and Hershey's chocolate, so it's not as sweet. They show you the whole process and make the chocolate drink of the Mayans (cocoa, chili) and some melted chocolate that they then put all sorts of toppings on. You can have as many spoonfuls as you'd like with different toppings. Reiko had a bunch of hilarious and delicious combinations. Ask for a Roasted Monkey. Our kids loved the birthday cake (marshmallows, vanilla, and then some orange oil that he lit on fire). Super enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours (we were there about 1.5 to 2 hours). We also bought some chocolate from their reception area that they said is made by small batch local family chocolatiers. We saw the same brands in other shops in La Fortuna and they were almost twice as much, so we were glad we just...

The tour starts out in the reception where they give you a quick background on what real chocolate is and the truths on chocolate trade that goes on around the world. Then you walk in the cacao plantation to be introduce to the cacao trees and fruits, before being let alone to walk around the plantation for 15 to 20 minutes. This is an opportunity to find wildlife that roam within the forest. You meet up with your guide in a small hut to experience the process of making chocolate from cracking open the cacao fruit to grinding and melting the cacao seeds. At the end you get to taste the chocolate in various ways La Fortuna offers tons of chocolate tours, but this is one of the more affordable ones. We learned so much about what real chocolate is and the processes it took to make a good bar. The tasting part was our favorite. Our faces would just light up when we tasted spoonful of melted chocolate with assortment of flavors from salt and caramel to vodka, chili, and lime. Ask your guide to make you their favorite combinations, it will blow your mind.

I am really into chocolate so I was excited. We chose this one on a tip from our tour guide. It was alright and being close was a plus. If it wasn’t for the tour guide doing such a good job I probably would have given it a lower rating. If you don’t care about the money and want to see and taste a cocoa pod then it is worth going. They grind some beans with some sugar and let you eat it which was pretty tasty and at the end of the tour you eat melted chocolate out of a bowl with a spoon which is good for a taste but not the best experience. I don’t know if there is a better place but is what it is, a tourist destination. The disappointment was that once we were there they told us that the farm is only used for tours and does not make its own chocolate. 40-60% of the trees are infected with a fungus and the orchard is not well maintained We found one tree way in the back with 4-6 pods on it. The rest are barren or moldy. I would recommend trying another place with a maintained farm. I don’t regret going though.
