Hotel Arenal Glamping — Attraction in La Fortuna

The staff here are great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. |We had an issue with our initial room and Dani worked very quickly to get us set up in a different one. |The grounds are kept in beautiful shape and the view of the volcano, when it is out, is marvelous. ||It is great waking up to sounds of the birds, frogs and insects. Unfortunately, there is construction going on close by and apparent they start at 6:00 the morning. ||Breakfast is very nice. Fruit, gallo pinto, eggs to order ( you may have to ask) cereal, pancakes, etc. ||The rooms/tents have good potential, nice flooring, comfy beds, private decks and the a/c units work well. But there’s quite a lot of room for improvement. ||I get that you have to not eat in the room because of potential ants pest, etc. However, it doesn’t make any sense to not have some sort of food locker in your room and allow you to eat on your deck or something so that there’s a way to have snacks or whatever in your room. At this point, for the standard tents, you have to put any food you have in their little communal refrigerator by the breakfast area and walk down there to eat anything.|They also want you to wear a wrist band 24 /7 for “breakfast and security”. |So you walk around town clearly identifying as a tourist? And we went canyoning. I’m not going to wear a band while we’re rappelling. No one noticed when we removed our bands.||The superior tents are a good step up from the standard tents. They have a small personal fridge and are roomier with better showers. But there are still issues that should be addressed:|Only two pillows on beds;|No shelf in shower for toiletries like conditioner your own shampoo etc.;|room safe is in a very inconvenient location. You have to get on hands and knees on wood floor and it is hard | to see the panel; no Kleenex; could use hooks near shower to hang towels/robes, and a corner shelf in bathroom as now only a narrow two level shelf right above toilet. Anyone ever knocked something of a shelf into the toilet?; no hot water in the bathroom sink; in the living area they really need a few shelves or drawers.there is almost no place to unpack. So you have to live out of a suitcase and there’s only one suitcase stand; only one bedside lamp for two beds. |It feels like whoever designed the space never tried staying in the room for a few nights. A sad place

Near the road (not deep in the nature) you arrive at the reception. Only one girl stays here. We arrived a little in advance with our 2 little girls asking if we can have the room. It seems to be very usual for this place to give the room before the hour even if it’s ready. Then we started visiting the hotel. Nice swimming pool, nice garden. When we had our room 15 mins before the regular hour (youhou) the tent was really nice, spacious, good beds. Then we discovered that the place doesn’t offer any service except the breakfast. But when i say no service is nothing not even a glass of water. No employee except the girl of the reception with is clearly a junior. The breakfast was the minimum you can have. We had a problem the second day because we ask them to do our room which is very classical request considering the price of the night but the girl after have asking 3 times told us « we will be happy to do your room tomorrow ». We understood lately that the cleaning is not done every day. We wanted to talk to the boss but he doesn’t speak English (!) For animals and nature part there was nothing to see because to close to the town and road… To conclude these people don’t understand that « ecological » doesn’t mean sad place, doesn’t mean no service (not even a bottle of water or tissus in the room), doesn’t mean no cleaning. They just overate the price of the night for people like us trying to travel better but actually it’s a rip off. It’s just a sad place. We do not...
