Right off of the main street running through La Fortuna, you have this little soda that you can overlook quite easily. However that would be a mistake. Don Henry, will tell you when you walk through the entry way that only the tourists pick from the menu, the locals are the ones who choose from the cafeteria style selections displayed behind a glass case.
I would recommend that you do the "local" thing and get your 3 carb and 1 protein selection. Feel a little adventurous? Try the "maldongo"...the beef stomach soup...it was unique 😉
This place feels like what a soda should feel like. It's not geared to cater to tourists with fancy decorations. You walk in here and you see what the "Ticos" typically see and expect from a soda.

Read moreWicked good, awesome prices. Everything on the strip was so pricey. The lady at the front till was super friendly. The waiter rushing around was a gem, he got us water as soon as we sat down, I wasn’t even expecting any, it was chilled in the fridge, he left us a 1 litre pitcher with cups.
This a hole in the wall soda with 6 tables, it’s warm inside, Very “home” feeling.
I ate Costa Ricandish and it was awesome. Chicafro? My lady got the the pesto pasta. I’d probably pass on the pasta but that’s my preference, was still awesome! They had burgers hot dogs, fries, chicken tacos, soup dishes. Had IT ALL.
Do not be shy if you’re a foreigner, super friendly place.

This is honestly the best place to eat in La Fortuna 🇨🇷 the food is amazing, the prices are great and the location is central.
I got the chicken patacones (more than once, it was so good) and the soursop with milk. Not only was it incredibly good but I've now added them to my favourite foods ever list 🗒️
The gentleman serving us was very friendly and we even saw him outside a few times and said hello 👋
