Come here for the service, the animals, the pools and to relax in peace and quiet. We stayed here for 6 glorious nights late March. Great staff and lots of them. Five warm pools. More wildlife on the pool deck than you’ll see in the park. And did I mention the swim up bar? 5 stars and would come here again in a hot second. We don’t stay at hotels much as we prefer the space of a VRBO and hotel food tends to be pricey and just ok. But, we opted for a hotel on this trip and we are so glad we did. The hotel is located on a protected peninsula so it is teaming with wildlife. Every critter has a name and is respected by the staff, sloths, macaws, howler, cappuccine and squirrel monkeys, all hang out around the pool deck. In fact, we saw far more critters on / near the pool deck than we did at Manuel Antonio park. If you come here to see animals then stay here. There are 5 pools with very warm water - you just walk into the pools and never shiver or have to ‘ease in’. The pools are super cleaned and well maintained and again, lots of staff on deck for your needs. Great views from the pool deck and its a great place to meet people, people watch or just let your kids go and splash about. We had a large room that was immaculate and cleaned at least daily. The rooms are large and very quiet - we never heard anyone else even though it was 70 % full. The staff all very friendly - everyone says hello/ good day to you and go out of their way to accommodate you. There is lots of staff all the time so if you need anything someone is there to help you. This hotel appeals to the Spanish (from Spain) so has many Spanish influences. However, almost everyone we met was from USA and we made a number of acquaintences (by the pool bar). Food is good and reasonably priced (not overpriced!) - in general it is hard to get a bad meal in Costa Rica. Everyone takes such pride in their food. The hotel provided breakfast (they take Covid very seriously) so you have to be served by someone. But there is super fresh fruit, customer omelets, eggs - standard fare. Tapas at the bar in the evening. We ate at the sushi restaurant the first night and that was our only disappointment. The sashimi slices were very thin and it cost nearly as much as in CA. It was very good, very fresh, just parsimonious. So I’d avoid that. The rest of the food was tasty. The only downside is that it is at the end of a one lane road and Costa Ricans drive a bit loosely. We had a car so were able to drive when we wanted to go. Many did not so they had to take a taxi or the hotel shuttle to get around. There are delivery trucks, taxis and many walkers on this road (it services many hotels) so you need to be on your toes when driving about. But we never had an issue driving and it is easy to get around. There is bank (ATM), market w/wine, pharmacy and many restaurants and shops at the start of the road about 1 K away. There is a beach, but we never used it as we didn’t want to walk that far. The main beach in town is full of hucksters and you kind of have to buy a seat/ Umbrella - That’s not our style so we opted for beaches out of town (Playa Linda) where they sandy, stretch for miles and there is no one around. All in all a great hotel, with great service, nice views and did I mention the five pools and swim up bar?

Stayed here for three nights towards the end of our time in Costa Rica. On arrival we were greeted with a much needed refreshing drink, check in wasn't for a couple of hours but we were given a room number so that the porters could take the bags to the rooms for us when they were ready. The rooms are large, with two double beds and crucially very good Aircon, which was a must as the 34C+ heat and 80%+ humidity really takes its toll! There's a fridge and coffee percolator, as well as a kettle too. Not long after we were in our room a few white-faced monkeys stopped by right outside and played in front of the room which was great to watch - we also saw a sloth and iguanas whilst there without even trying! There are two pools, one small adult only pool, and a larger (split in two) with the swim-up bar - plus a small one with a view but not really big enough to swim in. The bar does great fresh fruit cocktails, and the food is pretty good and large portions, good for lunch. There's also a shop onsite which does cold drinks, snacks and ice cream, as well as souvenirs and beer etc. There's a few restaurant options - the first night we tried the Sushi bar, which had some good food with big portions - not very authentic compared to when we were in Japan (but not many outside there come close really) - more geared up to an American taste, but still enjoyable There is also a more 'upmarket' restaurant, with an a la carte menu. We ate here one night and had a pretty bad experience, over an hour and a half after ordering and no food, despite chasing several times - we had to walk out as it was not acceptable. However we did receive a call about half an hour later from guest services, first to apologise profusely and send food to our room free of charge, and secondly to try and make things right for us after the bad experience. So the next night we were invited back for a complimentary meal there, to prove it was a one off and not a regular occurrence - to their credit, not many places would do this, but the service we got was exemplary, we had 2 courses with wine and got our food in good time, in fact we were finished and back to the room in less than 1.5h this time! The staff were again very apologetic for the previous night, which affected everyone not just us, and the meal (and wine) we had was fantastic - and we could tell everyone was getting the same service, it wasn't just for us, so it was almost certainly a redemption. The hotel offers a free bus service to the beach and entrance to Manuel Antonio national park, which we took advantage of one day she was very useful to get around. We also walked one of the trails and to the viewpoint which is well worth doing too. Breakfast was one of the best ones we'd had on our 2-week tour - so much choice of fresh food, great omelettes, and the choice does change each morning too. Overall this resort is an amazing experience for a few days relaxing - I would say the 3 days we had was about as much as needed given what is there to do (we were in a heat wave even the locals were struggling with) - but if you want to just spend time around the pool or the nearby beach then staying longer would be fine

Parador resort is simply breathtaking. Nestled into the hillside of Manuel Antonio. A 20 minute drive from Quepos town and 15 minute drive to Manuel Antonio Nature Reserve it’s situated between two major locations on the Pacific coastline. Named the number one resort in Central America and Mexico, Parador is not to be missed. On arrival you’re greeted with a warm smile and bags taken for you. On check in you receive a welcome drink and complementary cooled face towel to dust off the journey. Shown to your room via Golf Cart the rooms are spacious, cool and faultless. There’s complimentary coffee and water in the room and arrival which is renewed daily. The bathrooms come with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is body cream and hand soap by the sink also. The food at the hotel is good, breakfast is a typical Costa Rican breakfast with some more westernised elements with pastries and meats/cheeses. Breakfast is served in the main hotel restaurant “La Galleria” close to the pools and reception area. Other restaurants include Nama Sushi, La Fragatta and La Panga Pool Bar. All other restaurants are open at different times in the day and are on the expensive side. Some of the items on the menu are more expensive than state (for example we had chips at the pool bar which should have been 5USD but we were charged 9USD). Tax and service is included in all the prices. The facilities of the hotel are spectacular with 4 separate pools to enjoy (2 family pools and 2 adults only). There is a separate 5th pool in the suit section of the hotel but is exclusive for those who have booked Suit rooms. Included with your stay is access to a mini golf course, pickleball, gym access and the monkey hiking train. All of which is well worth exploring. There is also a Spa within the hotel. The spa offers a wide variety of treatments varying in prices. This is at an additional cost and can be rather pricey. The hotel offered a free shuttle service to Manuel Antonio National Park running at various times in the day. There is a time table given to you on check in to consult. If you have a hire car I would recommend driving there as the roads aren’t too bad quality and there’s parking at the Park itself. Parador is well worth staying a couple of nights at least, the views are stunning and facilities are brilliant. Staff are very friendly and wait on your every ask. A breathtaking hotel, a relaxing paradise.

Check-in was OK after they found both of my reservations. The original rooms were terrible with a view of the tennis court. After internet and power issues on the second day, thank goodness, we were switched to the main building with a canopy view and a partially obstructed ocean view. Definitely much better rooms and views! We continued to loose power in the new rooms but I am pretty sure that was on account of the weather. It is rainy season! There was a fold-out couch in the new room and of course with teenagers they investigated it. Unfortunately, there were mouse droppings inside so we left it open for the staff to clean. No biggie as it looked like this room hadn't been used in a while and we were just thrilled to not be in the other rooms. Last note about the rooms: In both sets of rooms, the showers were fantastic! It rained so very hard one night that I think almost no one left the hotel for dinner and the staff were very accommodating to the situation. The food is amazing! There is a beautiful livrary and so many beautiful decks to sit and watch the animals or weather from. A pooltable and put-put too. The main pool was under construction and had a tarp obstructing the gorgeous view. Lots of chlorine so beware not to wear a new swim suit. The hotel private trails are amazing! Lots of animals - mostly sloths, birds and iguanas. The monkeys like to run accross the roofs of the buildings. There is a free shuttle service to Manuel Antonio Beach that runs on odd times. If you miss the 9am you are stuck until 11. However, catching it to come back seems to be simple as my teenagers ditched the beach every day. If you miss the free shuttle there is a public bus that runs between Quepos and Manuel Antonio that is about a 15-20min walk. There is no private beach. There is a very calm and small public beach with lots of wildlife and nature about a 10min trek from the hotel. Vendors have food and drinks for sale, and they rent chairs and kayaks just like any other beach. Most vendors at Playa Biesanz will stay till 6 or if the wind and rain get too heavy. Whereas, the at Manuel Antonio the vendors want to leave when the rain starts or around 4. If you've never surfed before and want to learn or you're a little rusty and just need good consistent waves and a rental then Manuel Antonio is the beach! There are atleast 5 surf lesson/rental vendors. The key is to get there by 10AM.

We absolutely loved our stay in Parador starting from the moment we drove in. We were warmly welcomed with cool wet towels and a chilled tropical juice cocktail, (which may sound minor but was a big deal after driving in the heat for 5 hours) while my children got ice cream sandwiches. The property is really large and covered in lush greenery, colorful flowers and tasteful outdoor decor. There is a small hiking trail, the “Monkey Trail” which leads right up to an unobstructed ocean view. Walking down the trail, the howler monkeys can be heard yelling and making merry. They are nicely visible at clearances, climbing and swinging between branches of tall trees. A family of iguanas lives on the premise and can be seen strolling around every now and then. Besides these, we also saw macaws and sloths. There are all kinds of amenities: at least five adult swimming pools (the most remote one being inside the Fragata restaurant building), a baby/ toddler pool, a gym, gift-shop, spa, a children’s playhouse, meeting rooms , laundry, a mini-golf course and such. The main pool area is near the restaurants and has a wet tiki bar right next. Complementary breakfast is a very large buffet consisting of fresh fruits, breads, pastries, milks and cereals, hot breakfast options, a very tasty beans and rice, plantains and a live omelette counter. Guests are seated in the restaurant La Galaria, with outdoor seating and an excellent view of the ocean and scenery around to start your day off. The staff are polite, welcoming and provide top service: the rooms are cleaned everyday, there are golf carts that give visitors rides with their luggages, a free shuttle that takes guests to nearby attractions like the beach and national park, movie nights with pizza parties for children (these need an extra payment of $15 per child) and so on. The hotel ground is kept spic and span and delightful to look at or stroll through at any time. Overall Parador provided a truly exceptional experience and I will certainly come back if I visit Manuel Antonio again.

This review is long overdue! My partner & I stayed at Parador Resort & Spa Manuel Antonio in September 2019 and we absolutely loved it. The resort was in the middle of a rainforest inhabited by all sorts of wildlife. During our stay, we saw monkeys swinging from trees, iguanas & frogs! We stayed in the highest suite (we were upgraded for free-because our flight was delayed!). We had a beautiful mountainous view of Manuel Antonio from our suite. Delicious breakfast is included with your stay, we loved the fresh juices, fruits and locally sourced flavors every morning before starting our adventure! The rooms are beautiful and equipped with towels and toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soaps. The pools were clean and beautiful. There are several on the resort. We enjoyed a relaxing spa couples massage on site, for an additional charge. We ate and enjoyed piña coladas & margaritas on-site at the resort, the food and drinks were delicious. We also ate at local restaurants, our favorite was La Cantina BBQ down the road. The food and drinks were delicious and the view was absolutely gorgeous! We also went to a local brewery, Fuego Brew Co. and really enjoyed the food and craft beer flight. It was such a cool place! Beautiful decor and design, amazing concept. We visited Manuel Antonio National Park, as well as the hidden beach, just a few steps away from the resort. We also enjoyed a Monkey Tour at Chino Monkey Tour, it was amazing to take a boat ride and see the cute capuchin monkeys up close. One of our favorite excursions was to Nauyaca Falls. It was a really long trek/hike, but it was so worth it when we finally reached the waterfalls at the end! My only note is that Parador was about a 3 hour ride from San Jose airport. The ride could be a little nerve wracking, since the resort is on a high mountain and the roads become very narrow towards the end! With views of a drop off to the sides of the road, drive carefully & enjoy your stay at this beautiful oasis.
