Shana restaurante — Restaurant in Quepos

The service was not the best. Not even close. The fish that was claimed to be the catch of the day was obviously days old. They assured me that it was fresh but I have eyes and taste buds. I’m not sure how this place is ranked so high with the consistent terrible food and service. This isn’t my first nor second time here. I keep coming back to get the rave others talk about, but never receive it. Maybe it’s just dinner that gets the bad end of the stick. I hope they clean up their act. I won’t be around to see it.

Edit: I’m sorry I can’t be convinced that this was fresh or that it was even snapper. It looks like old mahi mahi. “Multiple requests” I ordered a strawberry margarita and was not informed that it was going to be frozen as nowhere on the menu stated it would be. I asked for it to be on the rocks. That is NOT a special request. As the server didn’t say that it would be frozen and again the menu doesn’t advertise a frozen option. It simply states to ask your server about the flavors. Im not sure what else you’re referring to. Your server was rude. I was actually surprised that he spoke with you about the old fish and overcooked “prawns”. We also didn’t make a complaint about the undercooked fishy salmon brought to the table. We thanked you for comping my unsatisfactory meal. I didn’t visit the restaurant for inedible food and to leave with an empty stomach. I wouldn’t understand why I would get charged for the frozen margarita when I did not ask for a frozen margarita nor did I consume it. But thank you anyway for removing that from the ticket. I stayed in Shana by the beach hotel. I had breakfasts, cocktails by the hotel pool, a couple days of lunch and dinner. It’s a nice restaurant next to the hotel pool and by forests with a great ocean view. I enjoyed watching toucans, butterflies, and an iguana named Lucy. The services of all staffs are very nice. Breakfast: the server whose name is Javier is a sweetheart. He often came by our table and asked us what we do for the day in Manuel Antonio and he remembered that and asked us about it the next day! He made sure we’ve got everything we needed although it was a self-serving breakfast! Meeting and talking to Javier every morning was a great way to start the day in Manuel Antonio. Derek and Alex in the breakfast staffs were very helpful too and they were very patient with my slow Spanish ☺️ Lunch/Bar/Dinner: we were served by the same middle-aged lady whom i forgot to ask for the name. She was very friendly and nice to talk to all time. Seafood and drinks that she recommended were all great! ¡Muchas Gracias...

We had dinner twice in this lovely open air restaurant with an amazing view of the jungle and the ocean. First night we enjoyed pasta and grilled octopus which were fantastic. The second night we went for pizza as the restaurant has a wood burning pizza oven. They were marvelous. But what makes this place special is the quality of the service. Elieth was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. She placed us close enough to the live guitarist (who was fantastic) but not too close, was super helpful and she even offered us a limoncello at the end of the meal. Overall...
