Tvrđava Mirabela (Peovica), Omiš – A Viewpoint Steeped in History and Magic 🌟

Tvrđava Mirabela, also known as Peovica, is a hidden gem that rises proudly above the charming coastal town of Omiš, Croatia. This historic fortress, built in the 13th century by the infamous Omiš pirates, carries a rich past that echoes through every stone and viewpoint.

Reaching the top involves a short but somewhat steep walk through the winding alleys of the old town – but the effort is well rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views imaginable. From the summit, you're treated to sweeping vistas of the sparkling Adriatic Sea, the mouth of the Cetina River, and the dramatic surrounding mountains. The view is picture-perfect, especially at sunset, when the sky lights up in golden hues.

The fortress itself is well-preserved and authentic, with informative signs that explain its role in defending the town against Venetian attacks. Despite its age, the site feels alive – a place where history, nature, and adventure blend into one unforgettable experience.

Highlights: •Spectacular views of Omiš and the sea •Rich historical atmosphere •Perfect spot for photography and peaceful reflection

Tips: •Wear good shoes – the path can be rocky in places •Best visited in the morning or evening to avoid the midday heat • In short, Tvrđava Mirabela is a must-see for anyone visiting Omiš.

It’s a place where you can truly feel the past while taking in one of the most beautiful views in Dalmatia. A small climb for a big...

Trudno mi o obiektywizm, ponieważ Dalmacja swoim klimatem i położeniem budzi u mnie ciepłe uczucia. Maleńka miejscowość upchnięta pomiędzy strome skały i brzeg morza. Urokliwa starówka z białymi budynkami, miniaturowymi ogródkami kaskadowo wspinającymi się w górę. Miasteczko ma aż dwie fortalicje. Mniejsza, dostępna bez wysiłku i większa Mirabela na szczycie skały. Prowadzą do niej dwie ścieżki. Jazda trwa...

A must-visit historical spot in Omiš! Peovica (also known as Mirabella Fortress) offers breathtaking panoramic views over the town, river, and sea. The short hike up is totally worth it – the atmosphere is peaceful, and the history of the tower adds a unique charm to the experience. It’s also a great spot for drone shots – the man selling tickets was kind and allowed us to fly the drone, which made the visit even more special. Perfect for photos and a moment of calm above the busy streets below. Don’t miss it if you’re exploring Omiš! Ticket price...

Nice place to visit and get a look at city from the top. It is not complicated to get there, not so many steps, I would say this is light version of hiking. But in result, when you get to the top, on the roof of fortress, you get the best view point in the city. This is small city, so you should visit this fortress for sure. If I remember right, entrance fee is 3 euro, so it is not about the money. There are some benches also under the trees, so you can take a seat and enjoy beautiful panorama of a city.

Many steep rock stairs, but only the sky is a limit, three children 20 months old [he stay on before last floor, and look everything from little windows], 7 and 9 years, without problem go to the head of a tower, when you are looking to panorama of a old town area, river canion of Cetina and sea, its recopeansate yours effort, in our case 5 person family pay only for adults and one oldest children , it is worth to pay 90 kun [~12 eur/55pln], 5 on 5 stars
