Dietrichstein tomb — Attraction in okres Břeclav

Honestly, I thought it was just another old church at first. Looks like it, right? But it’s actually the Dietrichstein family tomb — kind of a hidden piece of local history. The building used to be a church way back, but after a fire in the 1700s they rebuilt it as a mausoleum. Around 45 people from the family are buried here, and they played a big role in shaping Mikulov — owned the castle, pulled the strings around town for centuries.

The outside’s impressive without being over the top. Big, solid, a bit weathered. Feels quiet, kind of serious. Majestátní hrobka Dietrichsteinů bývala dříve kostelem, který v 18. stoleté vyhořel a následně byl přestavěn na hrobku. V ní je uloženo 45 rakví s ostatky příslušníků rodu. Samotný zakladatel hrobky, kníže František Josef Dietrichstein, je pohřben ve Vídni a ve zdejší hrobce je uloženo pouze jeho srdce. Ve 20. století proběhla kompletní rekonstrukce objektu. Byl zrestaurován kamenný plášť budovy i figurální výzdoba, stejně jako interiéry a prostor nádvoří s pomníkem Františka Josefa z Dietrichsteina od Emanuela Maxe z roku 1859.

The majestic tomb of the Dietrichstein family used to be a church, which burned down in the 18th century and was subsequently rebuilt into a tomb. Kostel sv. Anny s napodobeninou Svaté chýše z italského Loreta vznikl v letech 1623-1656. V jihozápadní části byla vystavena pohřební kaple rodu Dietrichsteinu. Bohužel celou stavbu pohltil požár města v roce 1784. Až v polovině 19 st. byla přestavěna na hrobku tohoto rodu a jsou zde umisteny pozůstatky členů rodu z let 1617 - 1852,a též jsou zde urny rodičů žijící poslední zástupkyně tohoto rodu. Při prohlídce uvidíte malé muzeum s historií hrobky, pak vystoupate na terasu, kde jsou nádherné výhledy na celý Milulov i sv.kopecek,pak vstoupíte do kaple a v bočních částech jsou hroby.
