Gratis museum tegenover de Domkerk over de eerste kerk en de latere ontwikkelingen in Ribe.

Er wordt gebruikgemaakt van informatiepanelen die veel uitleg geven over wat hier is geweest in de afgelopen 1000 jaar.

In de begintijd werden mensen op de Viking manier begraven, in een reisvaardige omhulling zodat men de reis kon aanvangen. Ook zijn er uit navolgende eeuwen allerlei niet christelijke symbolen gevonden op juwelen, waarschijnlijk om onheil af te weten. Ook dat ging mee in het graf. Het blijkt lastig om los te komen van de overleveringen uit het Scandinavische godendom en alleen op Jezus te vertrouwen. Terwijl dat de hoeksteen is waar het christelijk geloof op rust.

In het standbeeld van de eerste bisschop Ansgar zie je dat in het beeld terug, de Viking met z’n gewelddadige houding en de vrede en liefde van Jezus Christus. Welke...
