Apparently the oldest hotel in Denmark, situated in the very centre of the oldest town in Denmark. The building is almost 500 years old, and it shows. While the hotel is of a very high standard, the floors and walls are crooked. If you place a ball on the floor anyway, it will roll into a corner very quickly. It all adds to the atmosphere in the hotel, and the crooked floors is not a concern at all. The rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds (my wife found the mattress too hard but that is a matter of preference). The bathrooms are modern with shower and complimentary shower gel, shampoo and lotion. A hair dryer is also provided in the room. There is a flat screen tv with a generous amount of channels, some on English. And there are facilities for making tea and coffee in the room, as well as a coffee machine in the reception. While there are no minibars in the rooms, the reception has a refrigerator with various drinks and a simple pen-and-paper system to record purchases. There are many restaurants right outside the hotel, and the hotel itself also has two. In addition, there is outside serving when the weather allows. Breakfast is served opposite the reception and is a continental buffet along with bacon and eggs. Located on the central square, with the old cathedral a few meters from the entrance, it is a great place to stay if you plan to explore the town of Ribe. As the rooms are in the centre of town, on one of the main pedestrian streets with restaurants and bars, expect a bit of nightlife noise on weekends. Nothing that kept us awake. Note the crooked window sill in the picture and the historic buildings...

HIstoric Stay in a Historic town

THe hotel supposedly dates back to the 16th century making it not just Ribe’s oldest, but probably one of the oldest in Scandinavia! SO you get to stay and sleep in a piece of history. And every nook and corner of the hotel oozes historic character - from murals and paintings to timber and writings. They even offered free Coffee, that you could help yourself to all day long, from a machine in the lobby.

LOCATION: Fantastic location right in the main square in front of the stunning cathedral

DINE + DRINK: Excellent Restaurant with an outdoor terrace almost hugging the Cathedral and the main square.

ROOM: I stayed in Room 103, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Sweet view of the half-timbered houses and the street; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No Aircon but the room was cool enough; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower that was quite small; TOILETRIES: Good cosmetics.

FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool, just pure Viking Village chill!

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to the restaurant staff who helped with all my special requirements

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi (around 75 Mbps) that works well all over the property. And for an old heritage inn like this, I was shocked to see a Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...

The stay at Hotel Dagmar was part of our annual "family get together" including ourselves, our kids their spouces and our grandchildren all together 10 persons in the ages from 8 to 83 years. This was the seventh "get together" all of which started about ten years ago with visiting Legoland and staying at the hotel in Legoland.||We find that the kids were now in the age in which the roller coasters should be replaced by more culturelike or evolving experiences --- and what could then be better than visiting the oldest city, the oldest hotel and the oldest cathedral in Denmark.||The Hotel Dagmar is in spite of its age still a very nice hotel with an atmosphere of history and class. The service is welcoming and "up to the mark"- The rooms - we had booked 5 rooms - are beautifully restored with plenty of room, good beds, nice bathrooms and in some of the rooms sloping floors to prove the age of the hotel.||The breakfast served is delecious and plenty.||A stay at Hotel Dagmar is an experience of the good kind and can be...

We didn’t stay in the hotel. We came for lunch in restaurant. The food we ordered is delicious. The service was a bit terrible. My husband waited too long only for drink. He even had to asked 2 times why the drink were still not ready. I ordered sandwich chicken (I forgot the exact name) without bacon. I told the waitres already not put bacon because I can’t eat it. I saw that she wrote it. When it came, I saw bacon in it. I told them, they bring back to kitchen but only few seconds it bring back again to me. So It means they didn’t make a new one, only took out the bacon from the sandwich. So, please be more pay attention to what the guess ordered.
