The park is unusually long and narrow, some five kilometres in length, whilst less than 500 metres in width in many places. It encompasses a four lane road, the Avenida de Salud, which is closed to traffic much of the time, in the early morning and evenings making it ideal for exercise. One side is devoted to walkers and runners, the other to cyclists and both sides are packed with exercisers of all ages during these times. The park provides a wonderful facility for the city, is secured by police making it very safe and has both public toilets, exercise machines, children's playgrounds and various restaurants. There is also a small boating lake with pedalos. All this is topped off by a view of the nearby sea. The only downside is the inherent danger in crossing the busy road to access it, pedestrians need to beware of the virtually uncontrolled traffic speeding along Anacaona Ave, with no regard for speed limits or pedestrian...

The park is too dark and I doubt that there are security cameras around. I thought that it was the presidential road and was safe, however I was wrong. 2 guys followed me as I was walking along to my apartment and attacked right before I reached my home. I don't know why would police department in the park allow homeless dwell in park and rob people almost every other day.
