A must if you're near Quito. One of the biggest artisan markets in Latin America, open o Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am up to 5:30pm. You will find a wide variety and it's impossible to walk put without buying anything. You can bargain prices (pedir rebaja/regatear) if you buy a couple things and there are souvenirs from $1usd. Almost everything is hand made. Be careful to receive things frok people who is just walking around (not in a tent) though: they will try to make you keep the items and pay, just say "no, gracias" or "no quiero, gracias" and they will leave you alone.

It is very important to negotiate prices. For example, I purchased a belt for $7USD. By the end of the negotiations, I paid $7USD. Read moreThis was one of the great experiences traveling to the one of the largest indigenous markets in the South america. The best way to get to Ottawa Plaza Market is buy renting Uber taxi but if you're looking for more adventurous and much cheaper option than I recommend getting there by bus which will cost you $3. The bus station that will take you till tomorrow is called Terminal Terrestre Carcelén which opens as early as 6 am. There you can purchase a one way ticket to Otavalo bus station which is called Terminal Terrestre De Otavalo and runs until 8 or 9 pm. Ticket back to Quito will cost the same $3.
