I stayed here with a group of people back in June. The location is decent and within 5 minutes walking distance from the center of Siwa if there is such a thing.||||The rooms at Cleopatra are dirty, extremely old, and full of mosquitos. No A/C, just a fan which is normally fine but it was also 50C outside so it got pretty hot! There were dead cochroaches in the bathroom on the floor. The one thing I'm happy to say that we didn't get when staying at the Cleopatra was bedbugs.||||My recommendation would be to look around at other places to stay while in Siwa. Yes, it's only 30EGP for a double room with shower but believe it or not, it's not even worth the 30 pounds.||||When you arrive to Siwa you will think that you're in another world. It feels as if it's the 1950's. Everything is built from mud and brick with dirt roads and the main mode of transportation here is donkey and cart. Siwa in general is very cool, there are natrual springs, amazing sunsets, cheap souvenirs, and desert safari tours that you can book through many tourist offices in town. Just be careful which operator you choose because our 4x4 jeep flipped over in the Sahara. For the full story see here: ...
Read moreYikes. If you are a nomadic budget traveller, read on - if you are looking for even the slightest in cleanliness and luxury standards, proceed onwards. I stayed at the chalets, to the right of the big hotel. The big hotel is currently under construction (june 2022). The place is absolutely run down, however, 3 saving graces. 1. The Price - as the cheapest western-like accommodations in town, you just cant go wrong with 70LE per person per night. 2. The Host - mr. mohammed, the grounds keeper, gardener, front desk, house keeping and fire warden of the entire place is an exceptionally sweet man with a ton of love to offer the guests. Just ask, for anything, this man will go out of his way to do it for you. Need an extra mattress? Done. No faffing about. He is simply going to do whatever is possible to make it happen. 3. Hot/Cold running water - self explained. This hotel is a transit spot for you to figure your bearings out. Staying here long term will affect your lungs - (black mould...
Read moreCleoptra is located in just 5 minutes walk from the town centre and 10 min walk from the bus station. The hotel building is well kept and tidy, the room itself was of a confortable size. A small balcony belonged to the room with chairs, a small table and a view over Shally and road with palm trees.(The hotel consists of 2 buildings, and the one located in the garden have limited view.) Breakfast, towel and soap is not included in the services, but the resonable price describes it all. There is mosquito net on the windows and on the door, and a fan to move the air in the room.||Sometimes there are electricity cut downs in the town - daily regularity! - but the hotel belongs to that part of the town, which is not effected, at least it was not involved during my visit. It was nice to go home after dinner from a candlelighted restaurant (there was no other option) and find the hotel among the first buildings that have...
