If you are in Egypt you must experience the Siwa area; it is a very charming place in the desert. The people are kind, the area is loaded with history, and the desert is beautiful. We had the pleasure of staying at the Moon Valley with Mohamed Borakat (owner) and his wife and family. Mohamed designed and built this lovely, peacefuf place and it is very relaxing and wonderful. He is an excellent cook and all meals were spectacular and bountiful served when you desire them. There is horseback riding at this place, or you can walk in the desert, or take a nap in the hammock outside of your room. Everything is clean, and the owner and family are very friendly and accommodating. Mohamed will coordinate all your site seeing trips, and will take you into town to see the market and to shop a bit if you like. We really enjoyed riding on the dunes and visiting the hot springs for a short dip and then picnic lunch in desert. Afterwards more dune buggying and then tea in the desert while we watched the sunset...really beautiful. Back to the hotel/ranch for a dinner of Duck, Chicken, vegetables, sauces, soup, and lots of other yummy delights. We are so grateful that our guide in Cairo (Doaa Khalifa) steered us to this wonderful place. You can find Doaa on facebook too, she is a wonderful travel coordinator, and can tell you more about the Moon Valley and other places to...

Read moreOne of the most horrible horse stables I have ever seen. The horses were extremely skinny, some of them seemed to be seriously ill and looked like as if they would die soon. Out of the 15 horses only 1 looked slightly healthy. Even though the horses where sick, we saw children and adults continuously riding on them, jumping and running with them. The staff had prepared 2 horses for us for riding. Which where clearly sick, mal nourished and afraid of people.||This stable puts every horse lover to shame. It is owned by an Egyptian man who also owns the hotel. We told him the horses are sick and too skinny. Even though I explicitly told the owner that I have a lot of knowledge about horses and that his horses where sick and not looked after, he completely ignored my concerns and he joked about the situation. I refused to ride the horses and I hope that every one else will do the same. This case should...
