Absolutely beautifully styled hotel with the most friendly staff. We couldn't wish for a better place in terms of atmosphere, helpfulness, good food (we had about 4 or 5 breakfasts and the same number of lunches or dinners here), and location. It is right at the seaside and right by the touristy center which is fun to walk through. The southern side of the town, where Acacia is located, is more local Egyptian (Bedouin) in feel than the northern side which is quite Western hippie-ish. Know that Dahab is not a place with large beaches. In all of Dahab we felt safe and relaxed. From there, be sure to visit the ancient St. Catharine Monastery as a day trip. The sea was for us too cold to swim in (except for diving with a suit on) and the hotel swimming pool as well (late feb. 2024), but the air temperature was perfect for us (around 25 Celsius max). Acacia Hotel usually has some music on the loudspeakers and is known for its parties but when we were there, there were none (which was good for us). The sympathetic staff keeps the hotel clean, welcoming and well-functioning. If you are new to Egypt, make sure to tip because tipping is part of the income they need. In Acacia Hotel, you will enjoy tipping because the staff deserve it! Highly...
Read moreI came here once in 2019 and it was perfect, it was really enjoyable and rooms were clean and people at the reception were so friendly, I decided to go again this week (2023) and it was absolutely terrible, people are rude and not considerate and they absolutely don't care about people there, it's really overpriced compared to the offered services, which are none! People there smoked hash all the times in the hotel by the pool and I had my family with me and we had kids and we told the receptionist so many times about that and they did absolutely nothing! There are no rules, if you allow your guests to smoke hash then don't allow kids or families there! We had breakfast by the sea there (which was only the good thing) and out of nowhere we smell hash from one of the guests there with no respect to the kids we had! When my sister complained about that to one of the staff he was so so so rude with her! Rooms are so outdated and they're barely clean, I love Dahab so much but I really don't think I will make it there again because of...
Read moreThe room was nothing like that shown in the picture. There was no TV as stated on the booking site. The room was clean, however besides having no hot water in the shower the shower basin filled with water due to dirt and hair being in the plug hole. There were also cracks in the tiles. When I advised them on reception about the lack of hot water, his response was why didn't you tell me!! My response was cos I was in the shower! The hotel itself is beautiful outside and in the reception. My low rating is merely because of the room not bring as good a standard as advertised and therefore expensive compared to other hotel rooms in the area as well as the problems with the bathroom. The man on reception was not as helpful as he should have been - everything we asked for was an inconvenience to him, however the girl was lovely and very helpful as were the rest of the staff. I have stayed here before in one of the more expensive rooms (they weren't available at the time of booking) and I had no complaints...
