This restaurant is a very rare find and has been the highlight of our trip to Champagne. It’s a family owned Champagne house which has recently opened a restaurant at their address in Epernay.
Food: The food is of the highest standards and is very well executed without being overly pretentious. We had the five course ‘Elodie’ tasting menu with matched wines and every course was exceptional.
Atmosphere: It is a family run operation in the very best sense. Fabrice (front of house and husband of Elodie the winemaker) is a self-deprecating and charming ex rugby player who is perfectly suited for hosting what feels like a very professional dinner party spread over multiple tables.
Wine: We took the wine pairing with each course and each complimented their respective dish very well, showcasing the varied styles of their wines. The champagnes were fantastic and varied. I don’t know if the pairings stay the same but for us the 1990 vintage with the cheese course was a particularly unexpected highlight.
Service: As mentioned above, Fabrice really made our meal but all of the staff were fantastic. My wife was pregnant when we visited and despite only telling them when we arrived they made the effort of making a non-raw fish amuse bouche for her and also were aware of which cheeses were unpasteurised. We never had a long wait between any course and our glasses were always charged.
Overall I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It’s intimate, family run, with exceptional food and an interesting wine paring. The intimate setting and great hosting round up to a perfect...
Read moreOne of our best experiences in the champagne region. The very pink view immediately gives away it's female ownership. What we thought would be a fun gimmick, turned out to be so,so much more - I can only be left ashamed for my low expectations. Some of the best 'basic' brut and Blanc the Blanc, for very honest prices. The big thing here are the insane vintages. 1996 might be the best champagne I've ever tried (mind you, we visited summer of 2022 so vintage is indeed quite old !) The prices are rediculous for the quality given. Dom perignon sells for 180 because it aged 8-10 years ? The basic blend here aged almost as long. The 1996? Only 85 euro's a bottle. Service was by far the friendliest, most down to earth, enjoyable and knowledgeable we've encountered, they seem passionate about their job more than their paycheck. The details of the interior work 100 % with the feel of the house. Overall, I found my trip to champagne far from perfect, but this house made up for all of the imperfect encounters. Is it recommended? No.. it's mandatory to go here if you want an experience in champagne beyond classy, stuck up, entitled behavior. Down to earth, amazing value for money and just one of the best places to hang out - this place...
Read moreI cant recommend this place enough. We had a tasting and Fabrice talked us through the wines and was an excellent host. We returned a couple of days later on our wedding anniversary to try a couple of glasses they had available from the year of our marriage (1995)!. The hospitality was fabulous, they managed to find a candle with the right number of years on it, tied a balloon to the glasses and added a few macaroons for good luck. Fabrice and Elodie thanks for making the start of our...
