Very nice, albeit smallish, botanical garden. Interesting presentation of tropical plants in a very pleasant and though-trough layout. The most impressive to me personally were the Macaw parrots, in full freedom, with their own little houses, nameplates (by individual) and all. Absolutely remarkable - bring your good camera! On the bird front, you'll also find Rainbow Lorikeets (locked up in a voliere), flamingos (free roaming), as well as just passer-bys like all sorts of hummingbirds, summer ducks, and even local chickens & roosters. The restaurant is good too, but do not rely on the waitresses' recommandations, I think they're too busy to consider what you're asking them, as we observed first hand - just figure your own thing from the menu. The kitchen looks quite proper and is interesting to watch while waiting on your food, looks like a bunch of good folks doing a good job and liking it. Overall a good experience that I recommend if you're into this sort of activity. In terms of comparison, Balata in Martinique was a bigger deal, but no parrots,...
Read moreThis is a must-see for people who enjoy beautiful gardens and feeding birds and fish! I absolutely loved the loriquets! For 0.50€ you can buy a small cup of next and the loriquets will gladly jump onto your hands, shoulders, and arms as they drink from your cup. They are not afraid of people and are very amusing to see squabble over the food. The koi fish can equally be fed for 0.50€ and they jump out of the water to be fed. They will eat out of your hands and can be easily petted. Definitely tame and approachable. The gardens are beautiful with different exotic plantings. The water features throughout the gardens add soothing ambience and make for great subjects for landscape photography or as divine backdrops to family photographs. I was hesitant at first to pay 16€ entry but I spent 2 1/2 hours here without feeling it was too long. I probably would have spent at least another 30-60 minutes but the park closed and we had to leave. Next time I will have to visit earlier in the day so I can browse...
Read moreGreat morning spent here on a rainy day. Entrance fee is quite high but we were really glad we went. 50 cents for koi food and again for the parakeets was good fun and got us great photo opportunities with the parakeets sitting on your arms and shoulders. Gardens are nicely laid out and we really enjoyed following the path around the different areas. Benches (including under cover in the huts) make nice stops, could bring a picnic or snacks. Restaurant looked nice but quite expensive. Snack bar seemed fairly reasonably-priced. Plenty of toilets at different points around the gardens. Overall everything is very well maintained and clean. If there's a long queue for tickets, there's an electronic ticket machine which is...
