Had a short break with tuition with a friend here in March 2015. It is an excellent value means of getting on the mountain, only for the sacrifice of "chalet" style catering (you have to clear your plates and clean the tables after meals, as well as your room on checkout).||||The meals were great: lunch is available, so full board if you need it, and being so close to the slopes it was easy to pop back in. If not, then you could make up a packed lunch from baguette, cheese, meats, etc to take on the mountain. The variety and quality of food was better than some other All-Inc hotels I've been to, as we'd expect from the French!||||The bar was reasonably priced (I think they run it as a co-op) with a bottle of red wine about €5. Other drinks were okay for a ski-resort, but for beer we headed across the way where the was a pub which seemed to have an almost endless happy hour. Certainly I didn't find the cost of drinks as painful as other resorts!||||Transfer from Geneva is very convenient, we may have been lucky to not have other drop offs in other villages, but definitely the second fastest transfer to resort at about 1.5 hours. We used the tour agent to book the transfer, but if you go direct you make a saving (depending on the €:£ FX rate), and the many companies are well set up at GVA.||||I believe the building is an old Club Med property, so is ideal as accommodation, The dining room and bar are a good size and the balcony overlooking the village is perfect for soaking up sun or stars.||||We had a twin room which was perfect size for 2 (largish" chaps and bags of kit, we didn't get close to filling the wardrobes. No balcony as such, but a door which opened: a blessing as when we were there the temperature was over 20 degrees and cooling down became an issue!||||Check in was easy, even though we were quite late arriving, certainly the front of house is manned more than the confirmation e-mails would imply! Ditto checkout: the cleaning materials are left on trolleys in the corridors for all to help themselves, and bins provided for the laundry. We weren't leaving till mid afternoon so cleaned and checked out early, but there is a room to leave your bags and get changed so we were able to ski until 2pm.||||There is a short walk uphill from the bottom of the slopes, but you can pretty much ski from the door of the extensive ski / boot room, straight to a nursery slope and the bottom of several lifts, depending which direction you're headed.||||Liked this place so much we're booking to go again next season!||||WARNING! Do not forget your phone charger. I did, and skied to all of the Grand Massif villages to find a shop which sold one, to no avail. If you don't have an amazon prime account,...
Read moreStayed for family week April 2023. Compared to other UCPA locations, the staff & service here really let the place down. Despite not being enough tables in the restaurant for all guests, staff were regularly in there first taking up multiple tables to eat their lunch whilst guests had to wait. Same in the bar / lounge where staff regularly took up seats and tables in the evening whilst guests had to stand. Staff including the manager were smoking all day on the terrace and smoking and drinking alcohol every night. The entertainment was very poor staff didn't read the room, many families got up and left pretty quickly apart from karaoke night. On the last night it was basically a staff party. Guests were driven from the lounge bar as staff blasted music out at ridiculously loud volume whilst they drank and partied till the early hours keeping guests from getting any sleep. We were on the 3rd floor and could hear the music and singing as loud as if it was in the next room. Next morning no staff to be seen, basic bread and jam put out for breakfast. Nothing for people who couldnt eat bread. Lots of upset and tired guests after being kept awake until the early hours by staff party. No hot breakfast all week and very little effort made with food in general compared to...
Read moreMy husband booked UCPA Flaine as he stays at UCPA Val d’isere every year with his mates.|I’m new to UCPA but was advised of how it works for example you put your clean sheets on at arrival, buffet meals and you clear up after yourselves and then at the end of your stay you strip your room and clean it before you leave. |This ensures that this option stays fantastic value for money and means you can enjoy skiing/snowboarding without needing to re-mortgage! |Husband has his own snowboard gear however I used the ski package so all ski gear included and lift passes for both. |We booked twin room for extra privacy which included our own bathroom.|Rooms are small but big enough for what you need and ours overlooked the slopes so beautiful views. |Meals were very varied and tasty with multiple options daily. |Great location to runs and lifts- only 100meters. Staff really friendly and very helpful. We arrived after reception closed (late evening) however after advising the staff they were able to leave a key for us and we checked in, in the morning. |As we only stayed 4 days we booked our own tuition as UCPA only so week tuition packages. ||Would highly recommend for low cost stay with access to amazing...
