Sites antiques de Vaison-La-Romaine — Attraction in Carpentras

We really enjoyed our walk around these ruins. Its quite amazing how some of the mosaic floors have been restored for you to see and appreciate the history. When you go to the museum there is a notpad in English so you can read about what you are seeing. Some incredibly well preserved artifacts. Then we walked to the Amphitheatre. Wow! To see this still standing albeit with some help is truly amazing. There was another area you could view and walk round outside the main site across the road which we visited but this was an anti-climax after what we had already seen. It needs alot of work tidying it up and bringing it up to the same standard as the original site, We walked through the town which was very pretty down to the Roman bridge. Well worth the walk to appreciate how cleaver these Romans...

Sur, un office du tourisme existe mais la signalisation pour ceux qui arrivent par la première fois est ZÉRO. L'impression? Que la ville elle même NE SOUHAITE PAS que les gens viennent chez eux. Comme si la partie "basse de la ville" appartenait à eux : Les habitants français et la partie haute (ville médiévale) : Aux étrangers.

J'ai à peine regardé de loin car trop compliqué pour accéder aux parkings les plus proches ( ÉCONOMIE DE PANNEAUX avec les indications??)

Et vous allez devoir descendre des marches... Pas trouvé un bonne rampe aux normes pour les "moins rapides". Et la bas, au tour des vestiges... Si vous n'avez pas un minimum de l'histoire dans votre mémoire... Vous allez voir pour voir car trop peu de panneaux avec les renseignements.

Vétuste d'ailleurs l'accueil à ces sites.

En revanche, allez à la ville médiévale car il y a de la fraîcheur et énormément de renseignements. Votre parcours médiéval vous permettra connaître et apprendre bcp plus sur le passage des Romains par ici. Et d'autres sujets aussi très intéressants.

Bien entendu, lorsque je visite et je regarde je veux absolument connaître l'histoire. Je ne regarde pas pour pouvoir dire que "je suis allé"

En haut, dans la ville médiévale attention avec le vendeur de pâte de fruits : Sa façon de vendre vous place dans une situation non confortable et vous tombez "dans le panneau" et la facture est hautement salée.

Restaurant La fête à l'entrée de la ville médiévale : DÉLICIEUX, sympathique, copieux, beau, frais et accueille extraordinaire pour les chiens...

I’m disappointed that no one mentioned in these reviews that the audiotours are not available, due to sanitary reasons. And there is not a lot of other information, no booklets. A Qr-code didn’t work. There is a leaflet with basically just a map with a lot of Numbers. In the small museum on the site all the signs are in French, nothing in English. I don’t recommend going there this year, a waste...
