Dopff et Irion — Attraction in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

Busy during the Christmas markets season, we arrived as a bus tour group of Asians was finishing up. The one woman there doing tasting as well as ringing up the cash register did her very best but it was clear she was overwhelmed. But she sold a lot of wine and that's what matters.

We tasted several wines including a fantastic Blanc de Noirs Brut, a Riesling and a Pinot Gris. Delightful wines and since we're buying direct, the prices were quite reasonable. Under €25 for a bottle here that would easily be over $75 back in the States. Yes, this will be enjoyed very soon at my dinner...

Stopped by on Saturday just cuz we were in the area. All the wineries were open selling their wines and if we had more times I would have visited them all but time was short so had to settle for a few. Dopff & Irion was the first on tour but by far the best. Their selection of Rieslings, Pinots, and Gewurztraminers are amazing including the Grand Crus. We had a wonderful wine tasting there! The man guiding us through the tasting was knowledgeable and walked us through both the history of the domaine and what made each wine unique while addressing any questions we had on the winemaking process.

We went during a quieter time in the afternoon and were able to get a really tailored experience based on what interested in each crémant and wine.
