Not my cup of coffee...
A collection of skeletons, old graves, and very deep wells. Unless you’re passionate about archaeology (and I mean REALLY passionate), there isn’t much to see here.
In short, the positive points:
Location – in the old part of the city, close to the "Escalier des géants", one of the most beautiful and challenging roads leading to the Bastille fort.
The building itself – an old monastery, very well preserved.
Free admission.
Audio guide – available in almost all international languages. Unfortunately, the information it provides isn’t particularly engaging.
Light and sound effects in the crypt – actually, that’s the only truly interesting thing in the museum.
Interior layout – the museum is well organized, with signs, glass floors, and walkways that allow visitors to explore (almost) every nook and cranny.
Cons:

The annoying temporary exhibition that also ruined my visit to the Dauphinois Museum – piles of clothes scattered haphazardly among the tombs and along the...
Read moreOne of the most engaging museums I have ever seen. The brilliant design allows visitors to walk among (up to) 2000 year old archaeological findings that are in situ, which is unique and quite remarkable. At one point in the tour, you will stand and freely walk in a 1500 year old crypt, with all original adornments (no replacement replicas), and walk along ancient pathways and stairs. The long history of this site, from Roman necropolis to Catholic Church to Benedictine monks and back to church again, all cleverly displayed. There are Indiana Jones vibes to some sections of the audio tour (very much in a good way). The staff are professional and courteous. This is a highly recommended stop while in Grenoble, do...
What an amazing museum! I really enjoyed the tour.
Each point has an audio explanation. We use a radio, available in some languages, that explains to us the history of where we are stepping. It makes it much easier for tourists. The place also offers guided tours if necessary. There's no cost to visit. And for those who like archaeology, it will be well served as well. He has some access for people with little mobility, if he is a wheelchair user he will not be able to access all the places. There is an accessible bathroom for wheelchair users at the entrance. I recommend visiting...
