Port Des Minimes — Attraction in La Rochelle

Rather soulless place with a long walk from town but very good for the City beach. Great cycle access. Great for marine services. Some great, helpful staff, but some who will only answer what is specifically asked. LinkedIn profiles etc suggest a couple, promoted through the ranks over the many years, have maybe been unchallenged in place too long and need to think outside their bubble a bit? Berths are not always easily available, despite what the cruise books and, indeed, the marina says. Big boats can get badly allocated into the visitor area where the mooring trotts are too narrow - saw regular 'French' bumper boats. Too much prime visitor space in my view was always occupied by new FP cats and Neel tris being fitted out/commissioned, and seemingly some were there forever (over three weeks we saw)....but I guess it's big £££, so that's why? Pricing policy, like so many but not all marinas in France and elsewhere, is often unfair on boats with more than one hull - paying an overcharge when the beam is the same or similar sizes to a motor boat or modern fat beam race mono (AND just occupying one berth/space, eg hammerhead, and or still being rafted) isn't at all fair. It’s obviously a great city to visit and rather than be unsure in the city basins we opted for the huge Minimes marina. It’s really busy of course but we had help getting to our berth (had to ask 3 times on the way in and we were the only arrival! But they got there in the end). Our main negative was being on an outside pontoon with a lot of traffic - that wasn’t ideal but they have to fit people in. There were 2 crashes in to us over the 3 nights - both in the last 24 hours ( we had spent 2 days exploring so maybe there were more?!). Our main negative was the Capitanerie attitude on the last morning after a guy crashed in to us and reefed on at Midnight due to engine failure. My wife asked for help at 7:20am and was told that they didn’t open until 8am and to wait. Given we were helping out one of their annual berth holders, there were staff on duty, and we needed to leave to catch the tide into another of their marinas they could have been a bit nicer about it.

lorsque j'ai sorti mon bateau , ils ont déterminé le poids du bateau sur le vieil élévateur ; je doute qu'il y ait une pesée ; le poids était largement en dessous des 7,5 t ; par 2 fois, la secrétaire a essayé de me facturer la catégorie supérieure , et sans preuve de pesée bien entendu !

la direction du port ne respecte pas le contrat lorsqu'on résilie le contrat , sur lequel il est prévu un préavis d'un "mois plein " ; attention : le mois plein , c'est la durée du mois lunaire, c'est 30 jours , mais le directeur facture un mois civil + le mois en cours et il n'en démord pas ; d'autre part vous êtes en droit d'occuper votre place jusqu'au dernier jour du préavis ; or, ma place a été ré occupée à mon insu bien avant la fin du préavis par un autre propriétaire ! elle a donc été louée deux fois !

Liste d'attente du port des Minimes : le fait que vous vous inscriviez de façon régulière ne prouve en aucun cas que vous serez inscrit sur la liste d'attente ; si je n'étais pas passé à la capitainerie demander quelle était ma position sur la liste, je n'aurais jamais découvert en avril 2015 une année après l'envoi, que je n'étais pas inscrit ; or dans le nouveau bassin , il y avait beaucoup de places libres ! 8 jours après , comme par hasard, une place m'était attribuée ; nous avons attendu 4 mois alors que la secrétaire nous a dit que le délai était de 4 mois grace à l'agrandissement ; nous avons perdu un printemps de navigation très grande vigilance , avec ce port ! signé un...
