Beffroi de Lille — Attraction in Lille

Even if today (22 Oct 2023) I entered the venue at 16.41 and none was waiting in line, the ladies at the entrance were almost ready to go and said it was late. After I made them note that it was 4 minutes before the last entrance, they told me that the max number (18) of people at the top would have been exceeded. At 16.42 two people exited the tower and I asked to go up, but the ladies said that they were replacing the last couple that had entered. At 16.44, three people exited, but again they said that actually there were other 4 people waiting on the way. At 16.44 other 5 people were exiting, and if maths works it had to be me turn. But the ladies said it was too late! I said that I could stay one minute less, but they said “rules are rules”. Apparently the inconsistent rules they invent because want to go home earlier! Also, they had the courage to say that I could come earlier, to see clouds and rain I guess, as today the weather was bad until 16.35, and I ran to the tower when I saw the sky becoming clear. It is a pity that this kind of persons leave a bitter memory of a city that is nice. PS I read other reviews and I see I am not the only one complaining on...

UNESCO heritage site , opens at 10. I went without bookings on a Saturday and was asked to return at 11 due to pre booked individuals had preference. but while I was still waiting outside their gate the staff was kind to include me apparently there was still empty slot. Ticket 7 euros. One must walk 3 floors (109 steps) to be at the reception. Before that you must leave your sacs in the locker ( free of cost) & easy to operate. On upper floor there is a receptionist cash desert but ticket ( if not bought online) . Then you may choose to climb 5 floors or take elevator. I climbed and the steps are short and easy to climb around 400 steps to reach the top. Nice views and good info on display with list of spots one can observe . Overall enjoyable experience. Sadly, we didn't't get to visit. We queued and waited as it suggested online but the wait time (even when arriving long before opening) was well over an HR. The staff member that came out to explain advised that we booked online for the following day but there were no slots available. You can only book between 10-11 so places are very limited. There should be more slots available throughout the day. A lot of people arrived and were disappointed by the wait times. We were visiting at a fairly quiet time of year so I can imagine peak times are more...
