Dear Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild Team,
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild with friends. We came to experience one of the Côte d'Azur’s most renowned sites and, if only briefly, to find a moment of respite from the ongoing war in Ukraine. We chose this beautiful location, knowing it would offer us both peace and inspiration.
The beauty of the villa and its gardens exceeded all our expectations. We were deeply moved by the architecture and the meticulous landscaping, which is truly a testament to the artistic legacy of the Rothschild family.
Unfortunately, one aspect of our experience was disappointing. We noticed there was no audio guide available in Ukrainian, and, given our current circumstances, we did not feel comfortable using the russian guide. We opted for the English version, which we found to be well-narrated and informative. However, it was distressing to hear repeated references to Beatrice marrying a "wealthy russian man," only to later learn that he was actually from Odessa. Odessa is in Ukraine, and has always been a part of our country.
It was disheartening to feel that this important detail was either overlooked or inadequately researched, which left us with a sense that our history had been overshadowed.
I respectfully urge you to consider revising this part of the audio guide to more accurately reflect historical context, honoring the identity of Ukraine within your narratives. This would be a meaningful gesture for visitors like us, whose sense of national identity and pride is especially significant during these times.
Thank you for considering this feedback, and for maintaining such a remarkable place for the world to experience.

Read moreWell worth a visit to this beautifully located villa with amazing views and gardens. We went during the week, just after opening and had purchased tickets in advance (€18 for adults). A fairly easy journey from Nice on Lignes d’Azur buses. After getting off the bus, the villa is a short inclined walk along a road with fragrant flowers.
The audio guide was good, except it referred to things that weren’t in some of the rooms. Would highly recommend that you head upstairs and watch the 15 minute film on Beatrice Rothschild as it lent context to the era and building of the villa, plus her opulent lifestyle.
The villa does get hot so I was glad that we were there early in the day. The gardens are spectacular and there was only one pesky wanna be influencer who tried to hog the view of the fountain….she was pressured to move aside by the rest of the paying guests for their photo opps lol.
Bags are searched before entering. Photography is permitted - no flash. Parking along the road to the villa is good, but I suspect it would fill up fast. This place could be a little challenging for those with mobility issues. There is a ramp into the villa but I watched someone with a wheelchair have difficulty getting through one of the smaller doors in the lower rooms. Someone with a mobility walker may manage better. However the general upper garden level could be a little easier to negotiate for all levels of mobility. There is an ice cream vendor outside and a restaurant onsite, both of which we did not try. Washrooms are on the lower floor and there is...

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a stunning destination that offers a perfect blend of historical charm and natural beauty.
The garden is simply amazing. It is beautifully maintained and offers a variety of flora that will captivate any nature enthusiast. The several "hidden" paths provide a sense of adventure and discovery, making each visit unique and memorable.
The house itself looks like a scene straight out of a medieval movie. Its architecture and interior design transport you back in time, allowing you to immerse yourself in the elegance and grandeur of a bygone era.
Another great feature is the availability of audioguides in 9 different languages. This makes the villa accessible to a wide range of visitors, ensuring everyone can fully appreciate the rich history and stories behind the estate.
The gift shop is nice and offers a variety of souvenirs and gifts that are both unique and reasonably priced. It's a great place to pick up a memento of your visit.
The Downsides The only downside is the lack of air conditioning. On hot days, this can make the visit somewhat uncomfortable. However, the beauty of the villa and gardens makes it worth enduring the heat.
Overall, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, and nature. Just be prepared for the warm temperatures...
