I didn’t get to stay here. I messed up and booked the wrong day. I take full credit for that mistake. The price for the refundable rate was over 9000 dollars, an obvious mistake. But I booked a non refundable room anyway. I almost immediately realized what I had done and sent them an email with a screenshot of the prices and asked since it was partly their fault I couldn’t book the refundable rate on the platform I booked on. I received a very rude email in response and they outright refused to accept any responsibility for their messed up pricing.

I really like this hostel I found in Airbnb! It wasn’t difficult to find the place considering that it was my first time in Paris. What’s amazing is that I got bumped up to have a room of my own instead of just a bunk bed. The bathrooms were nice and clean. And the bedrooms were all kept well. They have events at night for their guests and the breakfast the morning after is really great. The bread was 👌🏼! A must-try budget friendly lodging for tourists in Paris.

My flight got delayed, so I arrived late to the hostel around 2 AM on the night of March the 10th "My reservation was from the 9th, so no problem"||||I seemed to wake up the receptionist who suddenly got busy on phone but had done the check in procedures, I reconfirmed it's a bottom bunk bed "due to a medical condition, I can't climb" he said Yes Yes.. My room is on the 5th floor, I was fine and asked if there's a lift, he said Yes Yes "basically was busy on phone and didn't even listen to what I was saying"||||I went up "no lift btw but it was okay" to find the bed assigned is on top, and there was only one person in the room!||||I went down again asking if I can take the vacant bottom bed, then he got mad!!||||No you can't, wait for my colleague in the morning to see if he can move you.||||I asked if I can stay at the reception till then, but no it's closed... So I will just stay here in front of the Reception desk I replied.||||I affirmed I had my request delivered for a bottom bed, there was only one person in the room, so why can't I just get any?!||||He got very mad; ||started to call me crazy, and then shifted to the "I don't speak English" and saying Me NO ME NO ME NO... ||||He then approached very very close waiving threatening with his finger "saying we are not discriminating you"!!! What? Who said discrimination?!!||||Then, I started to film his attitude with my cell phone right away as it was that close it gets physical.. He panicked when I started to film and called the police on me and asked me to go spend the night in the kitchen!!!||||Unluckily for him, I can understand French pretty well but I only speak English... He asked the police to come because I was making a fuss and a scandal.||||The police arrived like 30 mins later, while me shaking and waiting in front of the desk as he vanished when I started to film.||||Very Unluckily for him, the police was very supportive to me and they spoke English... When I told them the whole story; they asked him to return my money as long as they didn't adhere to my request for bottom bed, it's a medical condition but he was so rude to them as well saying, It's not his problem! He refused to refund saying tomorrow in the afternoon I come back to his colleagues be refunded.||||The police stayed with me till I booked another hotel for the night and THEY SAID IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY RECEIVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PERSON but they can't file a case against him since it didn't get physical.||||While booking an alternative accommodation at 3 AM outside in the street, he called me in to give my money back!!||||This is a story I wanted to share, a story of lying, aggressive, and rude receptionist.||||Ah, and to the police; he stated that there's someone taking the bottom bed... While the key of the bottom bed was actually left on the check out tray!!!||||If you want ur days ruined and both yours physical and psychological health abused and tortured go to this place and deal with this man in particular.||||I dare their management to review the surveillance camera or reply negativity since that I have the whole story filmed and kept on my cell phone but won't get involved in privacy issues posting the face of someone publicly.||||I was very fortunate the police was supportive and took my side, who knows what might happen to...

Nothing to enjoy about this hostel.

I booked this hostel for 16 nights and it could not have been a bigger mistake. Staying here has been one of the most miserable experiences of my life. When I arrived the receptionist was unfriendly and acted like I was an inconvenience to them, which I found to be quite unprofessional. I was assigned my bed, only to discover that it was already being used by someone else and so had to haul my luggage back down the stairwell and then up further to my newly assigned bed. Again, not very professional.

When I tried plugging my travel adapter into the socket it broke. This ended up becoming quite a problem as the USB sockets for my bed specifically did not work (I checked and the USB sockets for the other beds in my room worked fine - it was just mine that did not). This meant that I was not able to charge my phone, which ran out of battery while I was searching to buy a new travel adapter. Thankfully I did not get lost.

The worst thing, however, is that on the first night I was woken up at 1AM by the receptionist asking me to confirm my name, as someone else in the room had taken the wrong bed. In my view it is, frankly, unacceptable for any respectable establishment to wake their guests up at 1AM outside of genuine safety issues. Following this I was not able to get any sleep due to the snoring of other guests, which would shake the very weak bed frames. The impossibility of sleeping and other guests being sick resulted in me falling quite ill during my stay, making my experience even worse.

Other issues I have encountered: the bed frames are extremely weak. Mine was held together with duct tape. They make a lot of noise when either person in the bunk moves (and as mentioned, snoring from other guests also causes them to shake). This makes it extremely difficult to get any sleep. the stairwell does not feel safe. The railing is shaky when weight is put on it. daily ‘cleaning’ is extremely cursory. They typically don’t spend more than 5 minutes cleaning a room (including the bathroom). The bathroom smells quite bad. the place is littered with signs denying any liability for stolen luggage, despite very little effort to provide security. There is a luggage room at the ground floor that is always open so it is very easy for someone to just steal luggage from. I feel much safer leaving my luggage under my bed, but even then there was a worry every time I left the hostel. It genuinely feels like this place cares more about avoiding liability for stolen luggage than it does with providing a half-decent experience for its guests which is… disappointing, to put it mildly.

Note: while I made the mistake of booking this hostel for an extended period of time, all of the issues I’ve described occurred within the first 3 days of my stay, with most of them being on the first. Save yourself the headache and stay...
