last night i went to experience the DARK MATTER exhibition in berlin, lichterfelde. I booked an appointment for 22:10, which was the last available slot. The exhibition is located further to the outskirts of berlin and was kinda hard to find. As i entered the exhibition i was welcomed by a very friendly and professional staff, who gave us a pretty good oversight of what was going to expect us as we enter the exhibition. In total there are seven rooms, which allowed your mind and body to fall into a new dimension. It was incredible! Each room offered a new experience for all the senses (except for taste and smell). In the last room, you really want to take your time and observe everything and really calm down. My friend and I probably spent around 4-5 min in the other room but were so amazed by the last room, that we laid there for a good hour!! So really take your time in the last room!! If I was to go there again (which i will!) i would go there at the last possible time slot, since there won’t be as many people. I also believe there will be less visitors during the week which would make the experience for enjoyable.

I didn’t know about this exhibition until my friend got me tickets and took me there. I didn’t know what to expect. The tickets were around €16 each which were reasonable compared to what I have paid for other immersive experiences before. Getting there was easy, there is a tram stop 2 minutes away. You are not allowed to bring food or drink inside. After the 3rd installation, you will go into a garden where you can use WC, have a drink or a smoke. My favourite would have to be grid. Lying down in the middle will make you feel like out of this world! The most underwhelming ones would be the first and the last one. I would suggest you spend less time in the first room and get a front seat in the 2nd and 3rd room. The last room is an interactive experience and it’s perfect for anyone who knows music. When we were there, no one in the room had an ounce of musical talent so it felt boring super fast. Berlin has a lot of cool exhibitions to offer and given my limited time, I am quite pleased that I visited Dark Matter. Highly recommend

Despite being a little smaller than I imagined, I did quite enjoy Dark Matter. There were 5 or 6 small rooms each with different displays set to music. If you don't care for digital art, the whole experience would be done in 5 minutes, but take the time to stay in each room for some time to see the pieces more and transform to the ethereal music. I spent about 1 hour here. The large room at the end was definitely the best, and my second favourite was the "bonfire" room (pictured). I sat here in the chair relaxing with my eyes closed for at least 10 minutes. This place isn't for everyone - but if you have an appreciation for digital art and go in knowing it's fairly small and to take time stopping, watching and listening in each room, you will enjoy it and get value for money out of it. Getting here from Berlin took 1 train and a tram (or 1 train and a 15 minute walk), but Google Maps made it very easy to find. I enjoyed it - and hope you do too.

I’ve been to the Exhibition twice and usually enjoyed it, but this last experience was extremely disappointing.

I went for the DJ set to see KiNK, who I really like, but the sound quality was terrible. Later, I went to get water in the bathroom for my husband, who was drunk, and suddenly an employee came at me very aggressively, telling me I shouldn’t drink that water. There were no signs indicating this, and instead of kindly recommending that I go to the bar, he was simply rude and harsh in his words.

When I went to the bar afterwards, the staff there were actually very nice and gave me water for free. However, no one had told me this before — I had already paid twice (3€ each time) for water earlier in the night. If I hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have known.

Honestly, this was the worst party of my life and the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. In the end, it all comes down to communication. A simple explanation would have avoided the entire situation, but instead I was treated poorly and even denied entry again just for asking about it.

Small things like this can completely ruin someone’s night. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend...
