I recently had the opportunity to visit the German Mine Museum in Bochum, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported back in time to the heyday of mining in the region.
The museum is incredibly well-curated, with informative exhibits that cover everything from the evolution of mining technology to the daily lives of miners.
Throughout the museum, there are interactive displays, multimedia presentations, and fascinating artifacts that bring the history of mining to life. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the effort that went into preserving this important part of our industrial heritage.
The staff at the museum were friendly and knowledgeable, and they were more than happy to answer any questions I had. Plus, the onsite facilities, including a gift shop and cafe, made it easy to spend the whole day exploring.
Overall, I can't recommend the German Mine Museum enough. Whether you're a history buff, a science enthusiast, or just looking for a unique experience, this museum has something for everyone. It's a true gem in the...
Read moreWhat an amazing place!! We are a family of four with two teenage children and spent 5 1/2 hours at the museum. The tour through the mine is great and shows lots of different machines and drilling techniques. There is also a simulator which is showing the experience of a 1.2 km ride underground. After the mine ride you come out on a viewing platform. A few stairs will take you to another platform (55 metres high) where the views are even better! The rest of the museum is also really informative and covers coal mining, national resources, art and more. We had a coffee break in the Kumpel Café enjoyed some delicious cakes at reasonable prices. Later, we ate lunch there and loved the menu names of the different dishes. Again, the meals were reasonably priced. A family ticket to the museum cost us €40, parking was free. There is ample street parking on the...
