As our family and my young daughter's friends approached the historic building housing Circus "Krone" we could feel the anticipation building. The classical architecture and decoration hinted at the timeless experience awaiting us inside, a glimpse into circus traditions carefully preserved through generations.
We heeded the advice by the phone support to arrive early, giving ourselves a full hour before the 14:30 show. This proved perfect enough time to enter without rushing, find our seats, and settle in to absorb the atmosphere. The interior transported us to another era; average-maintained classical walls, corridors, and ceilings created not just a venue, but a living museum celebrating circus heritage.
The lights are dimmed, and the orchestra began to play. Yes, a live orchestra! The rich sounds of instruments filled the air, lending authenticity and emotion to each act that followed. This traditional touch elevated the entire experience beyond what modern circuses often offer.
From our seats (and it seemed true of every section), we enjoyed clear views of the ring. The young performers demonstrated extraordinary skill, with several acts showcasing truly world-class talent. Particularly impressive were the animal performances, executed with remarkable precision. The animals appeared well-cared for and comfortable with their trainers, performing with a natural confidence that spoke to proper treatment and training.
Between acts, staff and clowns moved with choreographed efficiency, creating seamless transitions that maintained the show's momentum.
While the performance itself captivated us, a few practical considerations might help future visitors. The venue lacks dedicated parking facilities, making arrival potentially stressful. Our Sunday visit granted us unusual luck with a spot near the entrance, but weekday visitors might not fare as well.
Inside, the ventilation proved inadequate as the performance progressed. By mid-show, the rising temperature became noticeable, particularly in the packed seating areas. Those sensitive to warm environments might find this uncomfortable.
The refreshment and snacks requires cash only (though they thoughtfully provide a card-to-cash exchange service). This extra step could cause delays during intermission for the unprepared.
Ladies might want to plan bathroom breaks strategically, as queues formed regularly despite the facilities being clean and well-maintained.
Despite these minor inconveniences, Circus "Krone" delivers an authentic, high-quality circus experience that honors tradition while showcasing remarkable talent. The historic setting, live music, professional performances, and visible care for both human and animal performers create an enchanting spectacle worth experiencing—just remember to bring cash, arrive early, and perhaps...
Read moreTraditional circus show presented exactly how it’s meant to be - with a Ringmaster and plenty of animal stars. Fantastic show from start to finish. Circus building itself is beautiful and full of history. Animals were clearly well cared for and seemed so relaxed in the ring, except for the dogs who were clearly excited to perform and loving every minute of their perfectly executed act. Special mention has to go to Martin Lacey Jnr for his big cat display which was the highlight of the whole show for me. You could see the love, trust and mutual respect between Martin and his lions and tigers and it brought a tear to my eye to be there to witness. Such a special experience, to be so close to these beautiful animals… I traveled all the way from Scotland especially to see this show and it didn’t disappoint in any way. I highly recommend you see this show if you can, and hope I can come back one day to see it again myself...
Read moreThis is a winter circus, it means in a building but you will have all the sensations of circus with more comfort. Nice place to see a show, popular and crowded but with enough space for everyone to sit comfortably. About circus exhibitions, I also don’t care what antispecists think, it is a real traditional circus like the ones we used to know when we were young (good memories for instance of the National Swiss Circus Knie) with elephants, horses, tigers and lions (very impressive show with 20 felines in the cage), huskies. The acrobats are Mongolian, Chinese, Hungarian or Ukrainian (I said it is a circus of tradition). The Italian clowns were a hit for the kids. And all this for 2 hours and 45 minutes at a very affordable price for a family,...
