EXTREMELY IMPOLITE AND RUDE! POOR QUALITY OF STAFF! I have visited many museums in Europe. They all gave me valuable and wonderful experience. This museum is the worst one I have ever met. The museum closed at 6:00p.m.. I and my husband left the exhibition hall at 5:55p.m.. We strictly followed the announcement of the museum with our greatest courtesy. My husband needed to go to toilet. I went to the locker place first to wait for my husband. One of the staff then came to me and said, ”Good morning.”, and mocked me to make him get off his work late. The locker key was in my husband’s trouser bag. I wondered whether I should rush in the male toilet immediately to get the key off from my husband’s trouser while he was pissing. My husband came to the locker place a minute later. We needed to get back our packsacks and wear our clothing because the outside was very chilly at night. We were already hurrying up but the staff threatened us to CALL THE POLICE because he claimed that we were not willing to leave. I’ve never encountered such rude and impolite people in Europe before. TOTALLY WITHOUT RESPECT. I’d kindly suggest the dear curator of the museum to stick a big notice on their entry to remind all the visitors that NO VISITORS ARE ALLOWED BECAUSE THEIR DISTINGUISHED STAFF NEED TO LEAVE THEIR WORK AT EXACTLY 6 O’CLOCK. I will never visit this...

The Neue Pinokothek (€7 per adult) is a modern art museum in Munich where you view a quality collection of 19th century modern art. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm daily with extended hours on Wednesday evening until 8pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Entrance fee includes an audio guide which is allows you to learn more about individual artworks as you make your way through various galleries. Rooms are numbered chronologically and there is a natural path which takes visitors through the entire collection.

During our midweek visit, there were few other visitors, allowing a relaxed visit throughout. Here you find a good representation of notable international artists such as Goya, Manet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh, Gainsborough, Turner, Klimt, Schiele amongst many others. There is also a good representation of German artists including Heinrich Maria von Hess, Peter von Hess, Peter von Cornelius and Caspar David Friedrich.

Our visit lasted around 2.5 hours. We enjoyed the collection and would return for another visit during future visits to Munich.

Note that the Die Pinakotheken museums in Munich are only €1 to enter on Sundays so try visit 2-3 on the day if you are a museum lover and want to save a bit on...

Definitely go on a Sunday, you can get entry for €1. At that price it's good value, but I would have been disappointed had I paid full price. The collection is logically arranged, but if you don't read German you'll need to pay an extra €4.50 for the audio guide to understand what you're seeing - the gallery catalogue is available in every room, with information about each work, but in German only. All the major movements of the time period covered by the gallery (1700ish-1920ish) are represented, and they have examples of most of the big names, plus their lesser known German contemporaries.

Łączy on betonową konstrukcję z kamienną elewacją. - The New Pinakothek Museum (Neue Pinakothek) was founded by King Ludwik I Wittelsbach in 1853 to house his private collection of works by contemporary artists gathered since 1809. As a result of World War II, the old building was destroyed, its ruins removed in 1949. The current building was designed by architect Alexander Freiherr von Branc and opened in 1981. It combines a concrete structure with a stone façade. It focuses on European art of the 18th and 19th centuries and is one of the most important museums of 19th century art in the world. About 400 paintings and 50 sculptures are displayed in the museum. Among the numerous collections of paintings and sculptures there is, among others, the world's leading collection of French Impressionists with masterpieces Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and many others.
